This vital role involves operating various types of vehicles, including vans and small buses, while adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong sense of responsibility, and a passion for working with children. Your primary goal is to provide a secure, comfortable, and timely transportation experience that promotes trust and peace of mind for families and staff alike. Duties Safely operate vehicles such as vans, shuttles, or small buses to transport children between designated locations in accordance with traffic laws and transportation safety regulations Assist children with wheelchair access and ensure proper securing of mobility aids during transit Follow established routes, schedules, and traffic laws while maintaining a quick response to traffic changes or road conditions Conduct pre-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and emergency equipment Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with children, parents, and staff; address any concerns promptly and professionally Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including CPR and emergency stop procedures when necessary Maintain accurate logs of trips, mileage, passenger counts, and any incidents or delays Requirements Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for passenger transport and school bus driving Proven experience in bus driving or transit bus operation; experience working with children is highly preferred Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, transportation safety regulations, and student discipline policies Certification in first aid and CPR; familiarity with emergency response procedures for transportation incidents Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting children or handling mobility aids Strong communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for engaging diverse communities Defensive driving skills with a focus on passenger safety and behavior management Knowledge of school policy guidelines related to student transportation and behavior management Ability to respond quickly to traffic changes or road hazards while maintaining safety standards Experience with paratransit services or senior care transportation is advantageous but not required Join us as a Daycare Driver to make a meaningful difference in children's daily lives by providing safe, reliable transportation.
