Position Summary Child Care Staff are the heart of daily life at PFH. You'll provide direct care, supervision, mentorship, and emotional support to youth in a therapeutic group home setting — helping them build routines, develop life skills, and work toward their treatment goals. This role reports to the Child Care Supervisor and works closely with the Case Manager, Youth Support Coordinator, and Clinical Director. Key Responsibilities Provide direct supervision and support to youth throughout your shift, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times. Guide residents through daily routines — wake-up, hygiene, meals, chores, school, homework, recreation, and bedtime. Build positive, trusting relationships with youth using trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches. Model appropriate behavior, coach youth on social and life skills, and reinforce house expectations. De-escalate conflicts calmly and safely, using approved behavior-management techniques. Administer medications as trained and document accurately. Complete shift notes, incident reports, behavior logs, and communication logs before end of shift. Transport residents to school, appointments, and community activities as needed. Plan and supervise recreational, educational, and community-based activities. Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming home environment (light housekeeping, laundry support, meal prep). Participate in staff meetings, ongoing training, and treatment team communications. Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow all safety and crisis-response procedures. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; some college or a degree in human services, psychology, social work, or education preferred. At least 6 months of experience working with children or adolescents in a group, residential, school, mentoring, coaching, ministry, childcare, or family setting (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Patient, dependable, and emotionally steady — able to stay calm under pressure. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Additional Requirements Must be at least 21 years of age. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and clean driving record. Ability to pass a criminal background check, fingerprinting, and Child Protective Services clearance. CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire). TB screening and pre-employment physical. Ability to be physically active for the length of a shift — walking, standing, going up and down stairs, and safely supporting youth as needed. Availability to work evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. Preferred Experience Prior experience in a group home, residential treatment, foster care, behavioral health, juvenile justice, or youth mentoring program. Familiarity with trauma-informed care, de-escalation, and behavior-management practices. Experience with independent living skills instruction or youth life-skills coaching.
