Job Description

Help Shape the Future of Our Community The Sheboygan County YMCA is looking for an experienced, passionate, and organized Child Care Director to lead our licensed child care programs at the Sheboygan Falls YMCA and satellite locations. In this role, you'll provide leadership for our child care team, ensure high-quality programming, maintain licensing compliance, and build strong relationships with children and families. What You'll Do As the Child Care Director, you will: Lead and oversee all licensed child care programming. Recruit, hire, train, supervise, schedule, and evaluate child care staff. Ensure compliance with Wisconsin child care licensing regulations and maintain inspection readiness. Create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for children and families. Review lesson plans to ensure they are developmentally appropriate and aligned with program goals. Develop program calendars featuring family events, enrichment activities, and special programming. Purchase classroom supplies, food, and educational materials. Maintain accurate child, staff, attendance, licensing, health, and financial records. Manage child care billing, payments, and past-due accounts. Assist the Branch Director with budgeting, expense management, and program evaluation. Identify and report facility maintenance needs. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding children's progress and program information. Lead staff meetings, onboarding, continuing education, and professional development. Step into classrooms as needed to maintain required staff-to-child ratios. Qualifications We're looking for someone who has: Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education, Bachelor's Degree in Education, or a related field. Minimum of two years of experience as a Child Care Teacher, Center Director, or another leadership role in a licensed group child care setting. Wisconsin Registry Certificate Level 12 or higher. Must be at least 21 years of age. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Computer proficiency and comfort using current technology. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with others. Positive attitude, flexibility, patience, and professionalism. Physical Requirements This is an active position that includes: Sitting, kneeling, and working on the floor with children. Running, playing, and participating in indoor and outdoor activities. Lifting children (infant through age 12) and classroom equipment. Participating in playground activities, field trips, and swimming. Assisting with emergency evacuations when necessary. Required Training Within 30 days of hire, successful candidates will complete: CPR First Aid AED Bloodborne Pathogens Child Abuse Prevention Working with Program Volunteers Additional requirements include: Completion of 25 hours of continuing education annually. $42,000.00 - $47,000.00 per year
