LGBTQ Supervisor Associate Pastor, Senior Pastor Status:
Part-time position, approximately 12 hours per week Job Summary The Director of Children's and Youth Ministries provides faithful, energetic, creative, and hands-on instruction, mentoring, and leadership with First Christian Church's children and youth. These ministries support FCC's identity statement: We exist to share the inclusive love of Christ through welcoming, learning, serving, and offering spiritual connection. The Director of Children's and Youth Ministries works in conjunction with the Faith Formation Commission to provide children and youth with opportunities to grow in their faith and develop deep and rich community with one another and with the wider church.
Responsibilities:
Weekly worship - Sunday mornings: Attend to any needed set-up in children's worship room Participate with congregation in the 10:00 a.m. service Serve as teacher/assistant in children's worship Work with volunteer teachers and assistants Weekly worship - Sunday evenings: Participate with congregation in the 5:00 p.m. Upper Room service, utilizing this time to connect with children, youth, and their families Children's Ministry Plan and execute a monthly gathering for children (this may or may not include families). The primary goal of this activity is to promote community and friendship among FCC's kids. Youth Ministry At least once per month, lead a youth group meeting following the Sunday evening service. This meeting should include a learning opportunity that will support youth's faith development. At least once per month, plan and execute one additional youth activity. The primary goal of this activity is to promote community and friendship among FCC's youth. Seasonal/special events for families, children, and youth In coordination with the Faith Formation Commission and Associate Pastor, contribute to the planning and execution of special activities such as Downtown Trick or Treat, Lenten pretzel-making, Easter egg hunt, etc Meetings The Director of Children's and Youth Ministries will attend the following meetings: Faith Formation Commission (monthly or bi-monthly) FCC Board (monthly) - Director will not be required to attend every meeting, but should submit a written report monthly FCC Staff (monthly or twice per month, as schedule allows) Meet with Associate Pastor and/or Senior Pastor as needed (once or twice per month) Other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills and Behaviors

A love for children and youth and a true enjoyment of spending time in their company
Understanding and respect for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)
Excellent communication, leadership, people skills, and the ability to work as part of a team.
Benefits:
Salary of $13,000 per year
Two weeks of paid vacation time per year including two Sundays (eligible after six months of employment)
