8/19/2026 JOB SUMMARY The Worship Pastor is a member of the pastoral staff and serves as the primary leader of all worship/music related ministries of the church by planning, coordinating, and leading Christ-centered, biblically faithful worship that supports the MFBC mission. This individual provides pastoral care, spiritual leadership, and oversight to musicians, vocalists, technical/media volunteers, and all age-graded music ministries, equipping and encouraging every generation of volunteers to use their gifts in service to Christ and His Church, while working collaboratively with the Senior Pastor and church staff to foster a culture of excellence and authentic worship. The role also supports the church's overall pastoral ministry through discipleship, leadership development, pastoral care, and church-wide ministry initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and lead music for all congregational and age-graded music worship activities in collaboration with pastoral leadership.
  • Select songs and arrangements that align with sermon themes and church doctrine.
  • Lead worship activities in a manner that encourages and prioritizes active participation.
  • Incorporate a variety of musical styles as appropriate to the church's culture and vision.
  • Develop and coordinate worship services for special services and events as determined by the church, such as holidays, weddings, funerals, conferences, etc.) Pastoral Care & Spiritual Leadership
  • Provide pastoral care, including counseling, visitation, and support during times of need for all music ministry volunteers and staff.
  • Model a lifestyle of worship and spiritual maturity, supporting and representing the MFBC mission and vision.
  • Be a visible spiritual leader within the church.
  • Participate in staff meetings, planning sessions, and church life.
  • Support church-wide evangelism, discipleship, and outreach initiatives. Team Development
  • Recruit, train, develop, and disciple all volunteers and paid support with the music ministry.
  • Develop future worship leaders by mentoring students and adults with musical gifts.
  • Build a healthy, unified, and spiritually grounded music ministry team.
  • Lead collaboration of each group to ensure seamless execution. Administration & Organization
  • Maintain music library, licenses, copyright compliance, and resources.
  • Oversee music-related equipment and instruments.
  • Prepare and manage budgets related to music ministry as assigned.
  • Communicate clearly with staff and volunteers regarding schedules and expectations.
  • Provide oversight for audio, video, lighting, presentation software, livestream, and related technologies.
  • Ensure all worship technologies support the mission and effectiveness of worship activities.
  • Schedule and coordinate rehearsals as needed, ensuring all team members are prepared and supported, and that all resources.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS
  • Demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as a committed, born-again believer and is, or is willing to become, an active member of First Baptist Church of Maplewood, participating regularly in the life and ministries of the church.
  • Maintains a lifestyle consistent with Biblical Christian values as outlined in the Constitution, Bylaws, and Statement of Faith of First Baptist Church of Maplewood.
  • Supports and lives out the mission and core values of First Baptist Church of Maplewood.
  • Actively growing in faith through personal and group Bible study, applying biblical principles both in ministry responsibilities and personal life.

  • Spiritually mature and aligned with the church's beliefs and values.
  • Strong musical ability (vocal and/or instrumental proficiency)
  • Ability to direct and develop teams of volunteers or staff.
  • Basic knowledge of sound, media, and worship technology preferred.
  • Familiarity with worship planning software such as Planning Center & ProPresenter.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
  • Experience leading worship in a church or similar setting.
  • Master of Divinity (or equivalent theological training) preferred.
  • Must complete Child Protection Training and pass the required background check.
