Youth Minister
St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, located in Manchester, Maryland, seeks candidates for a Youth Minister. The St. Bartholomew's Catholic Youth Minister for Middle and High School Students is responsible for developing, coordinating, and leading a comprehensive ministry program that engages teenagers in their Catholic faith. This position fosters spiritual growth, discipleship, service, leadership development, and participation in the sacramental life of the Church while creating a welcoming environment for all youth. This is a part-time position, working 12-15 weekly hours. This position reports to the Pastor or Parish Administrator. Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
Essential FunctionsFaith Formation
Plan and lead faith formation programs for high school students (grades 9-12).
Teach Catholic doctrine in accordance with the teachings of the Catholic Church.
Facilitate Bible studies, small groups, retreats, and prayer experiences.
Encourage participation in Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, Reconciliation, and other sacramental opportunities.
Youth Programming
Organize weekly youth group meetings and special events.
Develop programs that foster Christian fellowship and community.
Coordinate retreats, conferences, mission trips, and diocesan youth events.
Recruit and support youth leadership teams.
Pastoral Ministry
Build positive relationships with teens and their families.
Provide mentorship and spiritual guidance to youth.
Be present at school, parish, and community events when appropriate.
Identify and respond to the pastoral needs of young people.
Volunteer Management
Recruit, train, and supervise adult volunteers.
Ensure all volunteers meet diocesan safe environment requirements.
Provide ongoing formation and support for ministry leaders.
Service and Outreach
Coordinate service projects and outreach opportunities.
Encourage youth involvement in parish ministries and community service.
Promote Catholic social teaching through hands-on service experiences.
Administration
Manage ministry calendars, budgets, registrations, and communications.
Maintain records and ensure compliance with parish and diocesan policies.
Collaborate with parish staff, clergy, and diocesan offices.
Utilize social media and digital communication tools to engage youth and families.
Position Qualifications
Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church.
Strong knowledge of Catholic theology and Church teachings.
Passion for working with adolescents and young adults.
Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Experience in youth ministry, catechesis, education, or related ministry preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Pastoral Ministry, Education, or a related field preferred, but not required.
Completion of diocesan safe environment (VIRTUS) and background check requirements.
Physical and Schedule Requirements
Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Ability to travel for retreats, conferences, and ministry events.
Ability to participate in outdoor and recreational activities as needed.

Pay Range:
$26.00, Hourly
