Manheim Brethren In Christ

Middle School Youth Pastor

Job Description

About Us Manheim Brethren in Christ Church (MBIC) exists to help people in our community initiate and nurture a growing relationship with Jesus Christ . We're a community church on the move — with growing momentum, a collaborative staff team, and deep roots in the Manheim community. We believe the local church is God's primary vehicle for transformation, and we're investing in the people and ministries that make that happen. To learn more about us, go to manheimbic.org. About the Role Dedicated to MBIC's mission of "initiating and nurturing a growing relationship with Christ," our Middle School Youth Pastor will lead a vibrant, deeply established ministry for students in 5th through 8th grade. For over 30 years, MBIC has deeply invested in family ministry, building a youth culture that extends well beyond our walls—from cafeteria lunches and teacher support days to being the local hangout after Friday night football. Averaging around 150 middle schoolers weekly in a church of 700 adults, this is not an entry-level position; it's a high-impact opportunity for an experienced leader ready to shepherd a large, dynamic, and community-connected youth ministry. Partnering with the Family Ministry Team and supervising our 56ers Ministry Director, you will design engaging discipleship pathways, teach, and create spaces where middle schoolers encounter Jesus. Rather than ministering alone, your key focus will be recruiting, equipping, and releasing volunteer leaders, fostering strong school district partnerships, and walking alongside parents. Whether leading Sunday mornings, planning retreats, or occasionally preaching in main services, your leadership will shape a culture of authentic faith and community for middle school students.
Key Responsibilities Youth Ministry Strategy & Programming:
Design, evaluate, and lead age-appropriate discipleship and teaching pathways for 5th through 8th graders across weekly gatherings, Sunday mornings, retreats, camps, and mission trips.
Volunteer Leadership Development:
Recruit, coach, and spiritually nurture a strong team of adult volunteers, equipping them to carry out relational discipleship and multiply ministry impact.
Team Leadership & Collaboration:
Supervise and support the 56ers Ministry Director while partnering closely with the Family Ministry Team to ensure smooth student transitions from kids ministry through high school.
Relational & Community Outreach:
Build intentional relationships with students and parents while cultivating active partnerships with local school administration, teachers, and coaches.
Family Ministry Initiatives:
Spearhead periodic church-wide projects, parent forums, and seasonal workshops that strengthen the partnership between home and church.
Pastoral Presence:
Serve as a welcoming pastoral presence on Sunday mornings, conduct child dedications and baptisms, provide pastoral care, and preach in main services 2-3 times per year.

What We're Looking For Proven Ministry Experience:
Brings 5+ years of youth ministry leadership experience, with the maturity and vision to lead a large, established, and complex middle school program.
Leadership Multiplier:
Possesses a track record of building up, equipping, and releasing volunteer leaders rather than running ministry in isolation.
Relational & Community-Minded:
Loves middle schoolers and excels at connecting with teenagers, walking alongside parents, and engaging the local school district.
Educational & Pastoral Credentials:
Holds at least a Bachelor's degree (a graduate degree in youth ministry or related field is preferred) and is a licensed pastor or willing to complete the BIC licensure process.
Spiritual & Theological Alignment:
Demonstrates spiritual maturity (1 Timothy 3, Titus 1), aligns with BIC core beliefs and practices, and actively believes in the work of the Holy Spirit.
Organizational & Communicative Strength:
Strong planner, organized administrator, and effective communicator who remains calm under pressure and leads with a positive, team-oriented attitude.
