Village Assistant (Shelter Monitor), Everhart Village Chico Housing Action Team - 3.7 Chico, CA Job Details Full-time $18 - $22 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Teamwork Safety regulations English Full Job Description Overview Everhart Village is an innovative planned shelter project in Chico, CA, in collaboration with Butte County Dept. of Behavioral Health (BCBH). It provides tiny sleeping cabins for 20 individuals. These cabins house exiting BCBH clients who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. The goal for Everhart Village is to house Behavioral Health clients, stabilize them so they can get treatment with Behavioral Health, and give them the support needed to move into permanent affordable housing with the goal to be successful in society. Each villager is assigned a case manager to assist in transitioning through the program phases. Responsibilities Responsible for monitoring villagers, and maintaining a safe and secure environment Responsible for the oversight of Everhart Village on weekends and afterhours. Ensure program rules and regulations are followed for the safety and security of all villagers and guests. Assist with village clean-up including the community center, kitchen, and laundry facility. Ensure that all villagers' bedding is washed weekly and returned to villagers' cabins. Assist villagers with basic needs and requests. Monitor and accurately log villager check-in and check-out at the front gate when site-host is absent. Conduct security checks when villagers check-in and check-out when site-host is absent. Ensure that no weapons or illegal substances enter the perimeter. Report and record events at the Village including unusual occurrences and damage. Conduct regular and consistent perimeter checks of village property and report any irregularities. Adhere to policies and procedures of CHAT and Everhart Village Collaborate with BCBH crisis services should a potential crisis arise; call fire, police or emergency medical personnel, accordingly. Qualifications Requires working overnight and weekends. Preference given to candidates with strong housing expertise, strong knowledge of mental health and/or substance use disorders, and experience in crisis intervention and crisis management. Experience working with individuals with mental health challenges and co-occurring disorders preferred Experience working with unhoused individuals preferred Experience working with diverse populations English and Spanish speaking preferred Pass all required background checks Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of social services and community resources for clients Knowledge of the homeless community Knowledge of non-profit organizations Skilled problem-solver Skilled in communication and patience Ability to maintain the privacy and confidentiality of villagers Ability to clearly document villager's activity and important issues, and log entries into HMIS Ability to understand and believe in CHAT's mission to provide housing opportunities for those who are homeless. Ability to work independently Ability to motivate, be a self-starter, and able to work as part of a team. Ability to work well with others
