Mountain Comprehensive Care Center - Residential Substance Use Disorder Treatment Job Overview Mountain Comprehensive Care Center is seeking a compassionate and recovery-oriented Residential Peer Support Specialist to join our Residential Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program. In this role, you will use your lived recovery experience to provide hope, encouragement, and practical support to residents as they work toward long-term recovery. Working alongside the clinical team, you will help residents build recovery skills, develop healthy routines, engage in treatment, and prepare for a successful transition back into the community. Responsibilities Build supportive, recovery-focused relationships with residents by sharing lived experience in an appropriate and professional manner. Encourage active participation in treatment, recovery groups, and daily programming. Support residents in developing recovery skills, healthy coping strategies, relapse prevention techniques, and daily living skills. Assist residents in identifying strengths, setting recovery goals, and overcoming barriers to treatment. Provide peer mentoring, education, and encouragement that promotes hope, self-advocacy, and personal responsibility. Facilitate or co-facilitate peer support groups, recovery-focused activities, and life skills programming as assigned. Assist residents in connecting with community resources and recovery supports to promote successful discharge planning. Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical standards in accordance with agency policy and peer support certification requirements. Complete documentation and other required records accurately and within established timeframes. Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and supervision. Perform other duties as assigned in support of the residential treatment program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must hold a Temporary Registered Alcohol & Drug Peer Support Specialist (TRADPSS) or Registered Alcohol & Drug Peer Support Specialist (RADPSS) credential through the Kentucky Board of Alcohol & Drug Counselors. Minimum of 1 year of personal recovery from substance use disorder. Demonstrated knowledge of recovery principles, peer support ethics, and multiple pathways to recovery. Valid Kentucky driver's license required. Previous experience in a treatment or recovery setting preferred.

Ability to provide empathetic, strengths‑based support grounded in lived experience. Understanding of trauma‑informed care, co‑occurring disorders, and the role of peer support within a multidisciplinary team. Ability to maintain clear documentation and professional communication. Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and the ability to model recovery‑oriented behavior. Ability to recognize personal limits and seek supervisory guidance when needed.
