Job Description

Position Overview Residential Support Staff supports A Safe Place's Residential Program during assigned shifts and is responsible for creating a safe, welcoming, and healthy environment for members in the home, consistent with A Safe Place Minimum Standards and organizational policies. Residential Support Staff supports daily routines, reinforces house standards, completes required logs, and models healthy boundaries while assisting members with life skills. Mission Alignment A Safe Place supports survivors of sex trafficking and exploitation through trauma-informed services and a supportive community environment. Residential Support Staff helps foster stability and belonging by maintaining predictable routines, respectful home culture, and consistent structure and healthy boundaries. Program Mandate The Member Support Team at A Safe Place exists to align and deliver programs that support survivors of sex trafficking and exploitation. Led by the Program Director, the team includes Direct Support Service Coordinator(s), a Program Coordinator, and a Peer Support Specialist. The team provides trauma-informed services focused on individualized case management, life skills development, and a supportive community. The team prioritizes strong, consistent relationships that foster a sense of belonging and help members regain control of their lives. Key Responsibilities Member support and home environment Model tasks for members and assist with life skills in the home environment. Assist with meal preparation when necessary. Reinforce cleanliness standards and perform general cleaning duties as required. Reinforce designated smoking rules and proper disposal of cigarette butts. Reinforce respectful treatment of other members, A Safe Place property, and animals. Assist members with household and property tasks scheduled on evenings and weekends, as applicable to assigned coverage. Support member participation in scheduled activities by sending reminders, offering encouragement, and documenting per policy. Safety, compliance, and documentation Complete all required logs accurately and on time. Follow the backup rotation schedule when contacting additional staff for support. Notify the Residential Support Staff, Team Lead of maintenance needs and required repairs. Meetings and transportation Participate in required staff trainings Transport members when scheduled and authorized, in accordance with A Safe Place transportation requirements. Core Competencies Reliability and consistency in a shift-based environment. Healthy-boundary behavior, respectful communication, and calm presence. Ability to follow protocols and complete documentation. Team communication and appropriate escalation using the backup rotation. Strong judgment and confidentiality in a survivor-serving environment. Preferred Experience We're genuinely looking for someone who feels a strong connection to our mission and can help us grow our impact. If you are new to our residential model but feel a connection to our mission, we want you to apply. Experience in residential support, direct care, shelter work, caregiving, recovery support, or similar roles is a plus. Experience supporting vulnerable populations is a plus. Comfort with routine-based environments, required logs, and shift accountability.

Schedule:
Assigned designated shifts based on program coverage needs. Shift assignments will be confirmed at hire and may change with advance notice based on program needs.

hours (Thursday 9:30pm-9:30am, Sat 9:00am-9:30pm, Sun 9:00am-9:30pm) RSS On Call - PRN The residential program is open 365 days a year which may require holiday coverage.

Timekeeping:
Non-exempt hourly role. Employees must accurately record all time worked using Time Clock Wizard.
Overtime:
Overtime is paid in accordance with law and requires prior approval from the Team Lead or Program Director, unless an emergency requires it. Required meetings and trainings are paid and count as hours worked.
Compensation and Benefits Pay:
$16.00/hour.
Time Off:
Not eligible for PTO. Unpaid time off may be approved based on program coverage needs. Time-off requests should be submitted at least 30 days in advance, when possible. Management is responsible for approving time off and coordinating coverage. Employees are expected to provide timely notice and cooperate with scheduling needs. Work Environment and Physical Requirements Ability to remain alert and responsive during assigned shift hours, including overnight shifts. Ability to walk through the home and property, complete routine checks, and perform light cleaning tasks. Ability to lift and carry light household items and groceries as needed. Ability to respond quickly to safety concerns. Pre-Employment and Policy Requirements Background check required, consistent with A Safe Place policy. Valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record if transporting members is part of the assignment. Commitment to confidentiality, professional conduct, and social media boundaries consistent with A Safe Place policy. Must pass a drug screening prior to starting and ongoing.
