KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREA
Resident Advocacy Complete initial residential orientation for clients entering emergency shelter which may include, but is not limited to completion of entry paperwork, completion of a needs and goal assessment, and explanation of house guidelines and programs to clients. Follow-up with clients, as needed, to ensure that clients are receiving appropriate services, peer counseling, information and referrals. Complete exit processes from emergency shelter with residential clients. Manage the daily activities of emergency shelter by assigning chores, supervising chores, ensuring that community living guidelines, rules, and policies are adhered to by residents. Assist with cleaning facility as needed. Serve as mediator to assist residents with conflict resolution skills. Assist residents with food services such as preparation and serving of meals as needed. Oversee the safety, security, and general welfare of residents and facility during assigned shift. Adhere to agency personnel and confidentiality policies. Must be flexible to work a different shift on short notice due to staff call in(s).
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREA
Crisis Hotline Answer 24-hour hotline in order to provide telephone assessments/service eligibility, crisis intervention, peer counseling, and information and referral. Ensure that hotline calls are properly documented and logged and that proper protocols are followed. Screen incoming calls in order to ensure client confidentiality.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREA
Record Maintenance and General Administration Ensure appropriate records are maintained regarding clients and service delivery. Maintain an accurate record of working hours. Prepare records or reports as required. Ensure that all needed repairs are brought to the attention of the Shelter Director and/or appropriate staff. Provide orientation, supervision, and information to volunteers and new employees when such are assigned to your shift. Attend all meetings as directed by the Shelter Director.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform other duties as required by the Shelter Director, Executive Director or Finance Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma/GED required. Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required. Life and work experiences may substitute for upper level educational preferences. Knowledge of dynamics of domestic violence, sexual assault, persons with special needs, community resources, and crisis intervention techniques required. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish rapport with diverse populations needed. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and ability to work flexible schedule needed. Bilingual (English/Spanish) required. Computer skills for data entry needed. Must possess a valid driver's license and have an insured motor vehicle. Ability to walk, bend, stoop, twist at waist, reach, climb stairs, lift and carry at least 25 pounds.
