ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Get to know the residents of our group homes so that you can help with the planning and implementation of spiritual, physical, intellectual, cultural, and emotional programming that will make residents feel engaged and fulfilled. We provide time and 1/2 paid to staff that work on holidays. We promote from within, thus the opportunity to grow as a leader in this industry. The Group Home Youth Counselor Overnight is responsible for the treatment of up to 8 youth in the Teaching Family Home under the direction of the Group Home Manager. This position completes regular safety checks, program documentation, and facility upkeep throughout the overnight hours while residents are sleeping. During resident waking hours, this position provides teaching, guidance and supervision to youth.
SPECIFIC DUTIES SUPERVISION OF RESIDENTS
Monitor residents and facility by remaining awake during overnight hours Implement approved Individual Service Plans and Behavior Support Plans for each youth Provide a therapeutic positive behavioral supports, crisis intervention, assisting with the upkeep of the physical environment) Communicate professionally with clients' teachers, parents, caseworkers, and probation officers, etc. Transport clients if needed Document activities, behaviors, contacts, and interventions as they occur
HOUSE MANAGEMENT 1.
Maintain cleanliness of the home by completing overnight maintenance checklist. 2. Ensure all maintenance tasks on facility and equipment are completed. 3. Maintain all required inventories and activities. 4. Complete all required documentation.
DIRECT SERVICES . 1.
Relate to the residents in a supportive manner. 2. Maintain records and the required data for each resident. 3. Carry out all duties as designated by the Program Director.
ACCOUNTABILITY
The Group Home Coordinator shall be supervised by and accountable to the Program Director.
HOURS OF EMPLOYMENT
Hours and days shall be scheduled according to the needs of the program. Overnight 11p-8a
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Must be at least 25 years of age A baccalaureate degree in social work or psychology and two years of professional experience working with children one year of which must have been in a residential facility for children; A high school diploma or a General Education Development Certificate (G.E.D.) and a minimum of five years professional experience working with children with at least two years in a residential facility for children; or A combination of education and experience working with children as approved by the department. Possess the ability to supervise Be flexible and reliable Be energetic Have excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills REQUIREMENTs Must become certified in Medication Management Must become certified in Therapeutic Behavior Management Must complete a Medical and T.B. test providing proof of results Must be fingerprinted by the State of Virginia Must submit official educational transcripts from the last school in which a degree was awarded. Staff Supervisors are required to work no less than 2 weekend shifts each month; shift are not to be scheduled consecutively in the same day (i.e. a double on Saturday would count as 1 shift). Staff Supervisors are to work no less than 3 evening shifts during each week (Monday Friday). Ability to lift 40 lbs.
