The Asian American Drug Abuse Program (AADAP) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to serving Asian Pacific Islanders and other underserved communities with substance abuse services throughout Los Angeles County. Programs and services are provided to all individuals regardless of race or ethnicity. Department Overview The Community Integrated Prevention (CIP) unit within the Prevention Department drives health equity, environmental advocacy, and community education around alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs (ATOD) across the South Bay (SPA 8) region. Through youth and adult coalition building, policy advocacy, and community outreach, CIP empowers residents to create safer, healthier environments. Position Summary The CIP Outreach Worker supports alcohol and other drug (AOD) education and prevention outreach across the South Bay (SPA 8) region. Reporting directly to the Prevention CIP Coordinator and guided by Community Organizers (CO I and CO II), this position assists with community presentations, trainings, digital content creation, event tabling, and volunteer engagement to drive social and policy change. Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities Target Area Organizing Assist Community Organizers with preparing and delivering alcohol, tobacco, and other drug (AOD) education presentations, workshops, and trainings across SPA 8. Assist in mobilizing community members for policy campaigns aimed at reducing youth access to alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. Support the educational development of youth and adult coalition members in collaboration with local and regional prevention partners. Assist with conducting comprehensive community assessments across assigned target areas in the South Bay (SPA 8) region. Develop creative educational outreach materials using media advocacy, including social media posts/reels, flyers, virtual training videos, and podcasts. Educate, inform, and cultivate awareness around ATOD issues with city, county, and state decision-makers and city staff. Support the implementation of Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) action plans by engaging local youth and adult volunteers. Transport supplies, media materials, and outreach equipment to field sites using a personal vehicle. Provide recommendations for contract plans based on emerging community needs, trends, and issues. County-Wide Organizing Participate in county-based roundtables, regional task forces, and coalition-based meetings. Assist with community advocacy surrounding local, state, and federal policy decisions impacting prevention. Administrative Support Comply with city, county, state, and federal contractual agreements. Maintain accurate field documentation, outreach logs, and evaluation files. Prepare and submit billing reports and required administrative tracking documentation on time. Department & Agency Attend required department, unit, and agency-sponsored meetings and events. Represent AADAP professionally at local, state, and federal forums, conferences, and community gatherings. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

Transportation:

Valid California Driver's License, active personal vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation.

Special Qualification:

Must have three (3) years of continuous recovery or a drug-free lifestyle as of the date of application. Nice to Have Bilingual or bicultural capabilities in Los Angeles County threshold languages (e.g., Spanish, Tagalog, Korean, Samoan, Tongan, Hawaiian, or other AAPI languages); Spanish fluency strongly preferred. Knowledge of substance use disorders, AOD prevention, and community issues in the South Bay (SPA 8) region. Experience creating digital media content (social media graphics, reels, flyers, or basic video editing). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) Ability to get along well with others, be punctual, pleasant, and tactful with professional appearance and conduct. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, clients and their families, community organizations, and the general public. Demonstrates cultural awareness and empathy across age groups, gender identity, sexual orientation, spiritual beliefs, socioeconomic status, and diverse cultures. Demonstrated knowledge and skill in computer operations and basic data entry for outreach tracking. Ability to understand community concerns deeply, listen actively, and build authentic rapport with diverse groups. Ability to pivot calmly in field environments, troubleshoot unexpected events, and work collaboratively with supervisors, peers, and external partners. Basic experience with media content creation, including social media graphics, reels, flyers, or video editing. (Preferred) Ability to comfortably present information, co-facilitate workshops, and engage youth and adult community members during public events and tabling outreach. (Preferred) Ability to manage field logistics, transport and set up outreach supplies, and work independently with minimal direct supervision. (Preferred) Special Requirements Employment contingent upon successful background check clearance. Permanent resident or U.S. Citizen; proof of work eligibility required upon hire. TB test within seven (7) days of hiring.

Work Schedule, Travel & Physical Demands Schedule:

Part-time, regular (20 hours per week); requires flexibility for occasional evening and weekend community events.

Travel:

Local field travel required throughout the South Bay (SPA 8) region using a personal vehicle.

Physical Requirements:

Moderate Duty. Requires standing or walking most of the time, with frequent bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, and working on irregular surfaces. Ascending and descending ladders and staircases will be required. Position frequently involves moving, lifting, and organizing agency supplies and media equipment weighing 10-25 lbs (and occasionally >25 lbs) to and from community outreach sites. Pay:

$20.19 - $21.74 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 per week
