Job Description

GRADE STD0019 LOCATION OF POSITION
St. Mary's County Dept. of Social Services 23110 Leonard Hall Dr. Leonardtown, MD 20650 Main Purpose of Job The position serves as the Assistant Director of the Family Investment Administration Division at the St. Mary's County Department of Social Services and is a member of the Executive Team. It ensures coordination of all work which supports family investment programs, compliance activities and the customer experience, including oversight of the agency's Customer Care Team. The position provides leadership to supervisory staff who oversee skilled staff in the implementation of human services programming following all local, state and federal regulations and laws. The ability to establish and maintain working relationships with internal and external partners/stakeholders, to review, analyze and troubleshoot service delivery data while addressing audit and performance outcomes is essential. Under the general direction of the Director, work is performed with wide latitude for independent action, management discretion and judgment.
POSITION DUTIES
Provide administration, oversight, and personnel management to the Family Investment programs. Directs, supervises and provides leadership to staff. Works collaboratively as a member of the Agency Executive Leadership Team. Monitors, reviews and supports quality assurance and improvement processes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience:
Eight years of experience in administrative, professional or technical work, three years must have involved supervision of other employees or exercising responsibility for program development.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 credit hours on a year-for-year basis for up to two years of the required general experience. 2. Candidates may substitute additional professional or technical experience in the administration of a human services program or experience conducting studies and analyses of programs, procedures, practices and organizations on a year-for-year basis for the required education. 3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a commissioned officer in Administrative Officer classifications or Administrative Officer specialty codes in the General, Administrative, Clerical, and Office Services field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education, two years must have been in an administrative supervisory or consultative capacity.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will possess the following: Two years experience with determining eligibility for public benefits. Two years experience developing and implementing program plans or system changes, including budgeting and statistical reporting. One year experience working collaboratively with community partners, public and/or private, to advance agency goals.
