Job Description

POSITION
:
Certified Peer Recovery Coach Classification :
Full Time Hours:
Days; Evening and Weekend hours as needed

Center Manager Overview :
The BWROC Certified Peer Recovery Coach provides person-centered support to individuals seeking or maintaining recovery from substance use. Drawing upon lived experience and professional training, the coach helps participants identify personal goals, strengthen recovery capital, navigate community resources, develop healthy coping skills, and build supportive connections. This position provides one-on-one coaching, maintains accurate and timely documentation, protects participant confidentiality, follows ethical and professional standards, and works collaboratively with BWROC staff and community partners. The Certified Peer Recovery Coach offers encouragement and practical guidance while respecting that each participant defines and directs their own pathway to recovery.
Responsibilities :
  • Deliver recovery coaching to participants.
  • Establishes a wellness plan with each participant and serves as a guide to achieve set goals.
  • Meets with and/or communicates with participants each week.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of trauma informed care.
  • Demonstrates positive beliefs and feelings regarding participants with varying levels of needs and multiple pathways to recovery.
  • Collects participant data and conducts follow up to ensure long - term participant engagement.
  • Helps navigate recovery support systems.
  • Able to share personal recovery experiences and can model effective coping techniques.
  • Provides participants with ongoing education regarding substance use, mental health, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, tobacco, nutrition and exercise and other health and wellness information.
  • Finds creative and effective solutions to complex problems and justifies prioritization when needed.
  • Provides peer support in a positive and supportive manner through coaching, role modeling and mentoring to assist members in developing skills to achieve their goals.
  • Serves as a liaison between administration, staff, clients, and volunteers.
  • Effective written and verbal communication, including ability to communicate in a professional manner.
  • Ensure emergency basic needs are addressed immediately ( i.e., food, temporary housing, transportation, clothing, etc.);
  • Make follow - up calls after all referrals are made.
  • Ensure all referrals and participant meetings are documented in case notes and in participant's file.
  • Ability to facilitate recovery support groups as needed and addiction education groups.
  • Ensure constant communication is made with the criminal justice monitoring agency ( i.e. Probation/parole/community corrections officers, etc.) to inform them of services BWROC is providing.
  • Recovery Planning -- facilitate (via personal coaching) the transition from a professionally directed service plan to a self - directed Recovery Plan. The goal should be to transition from professionally assisted recovery initiation to personally directed, community supported recovery maintenance.
  • Provide case notes for every intervention (i.e., appointment, phone call, etc.) in the participant services database.
  • Maintain confidentiality and the highest standards of ethical practices personally and professionally.
  • Potentially work with any partner agency setting up recovery after care and providing on-site recovery support services.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Required High school diploma/G.E.D. Must have recovery coach certification(s) from Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Certified Peer Recovery Coach and/or CCAR certificate holder. Must be willing to acquire Master Life Coach certificate; MDHHS Certified Community Navigator; and Compliance Training Group Diversity and Inclusion certificate. CPRC must have a working knowledge of the drug and alcohol treatment system and a demonstrated commitment to the recovery community. Must have two (2) continuous years of sobriety.

Physical:
