Job Description

Job Summary DYA Sports Performance is growing its Movement & Recovery team. We are seeking a developing or experienced human-performance professional interested in movement quality, mobility, recovery, physical readiness, and helping people move and perform at their best across different stages of life. DYA Sports Performance is a coach-led human-performance organization serving youth and adolescent athletes, active adults, older adults, families, and community partners through coaching, movement, performance, and recovery services. This is a paid developmental coaching position with a structured pathway toward greater responsibility, including the opportunity to qualify for independent delivery of DYA's Restore & Perform™ service. Candidates are not expected to already know the DYA system. We are looking for professionals who are willing to learn our approach, develop through mentorship and supervised experience, and potentially grow with DYA as our recovery, performance, community, and partner programming expands. What You'll Do Depending on your experience, demonstrated competency, and stage of development, responsibilities may include: Observe and assist with Restore & Perform™ sessions Work with youth and adolescent athletes, active adults, and older adults Support mobility, movement-readiness, and recovery-based coaching Coach approved individualized movement and exercise Help athletes support physical readiness and recovery around training, competition, and sport demands Work with adults and older adults seeking to maintain or improve movement, mobility, recovery, and physical capacity Assist with Active Living™ and community-based programs Learn and follow DYA's A.R.P.™ process — Assess → Review → Progress Participate in paid DYA Coach Development Progress into supervised and independent coaching responsibilities Communicate professionally with athletes, parents, adult clients, families, and community partners Coach at the DYA Athlete Development Center in Waterford Support approved programs at community and partner locations Maintain a safe, professional, and organized coaching environment About Restore & Perform™ Restore & Perform™ is DYA's individualized movement-readiness, mobility, and recovery service designed to help clients: Move Better. Feel Better. Perform Better. Restore & Perform™ serves individuals across different ages and activity levels—from developing and competitive athletes to active adults and older adults. The needs and approach vary by individual. An athlete may use Restore & Perform™ to support movement readiness, mobility, recovery, and physical preparation around training or competition, while an adult or older adult may use the service to support mobility, movement quality, recovery, and continued physical activity. Depending on their qualifications and stage of development, coaches may learn and use guided movement, mobility strategies, assisted mobility techniques, individualized exercise, recovery strategies, and appropriate hands-on techniques within DYA standards and their professional scope. Restore & Perform™ is not physical therapy, medical treatment, or massage therapy . DYA coaches are expected to understand and maintain appropriate professional boundaries, scope of practice, and referral practices. Preferred Background We are especially interested in candidates with education, professional credentials, or relevant experience in areas such as: Exercise Science Kinesiology Exercise Physiology Strength & Conditioning Personal Training Athletic Training Physical Therapy / Physical Therapist Assistant studies or related experience Health and Human Performance Active-aging or older-adult fitness Mobility and movement coaching Assisted stretching or flexibility-focused services Massage therapy or other appropriately credentialed hands-on bodywork experience Sports recovery, wellness, or performance-recovery services Hands-on movement or mobility experience within an appropriate professional scope Related health, fitness, wellness, or human-performance fields Experience in any one of these areas is not required, and applicants are not expected to already know DYA's Restore & Perform™ system. We are interested in professionals whose existing education, credentials, coaching experience, client-service experience, or hands-on background may provide a strong foundation for DYA Coach Development. A specific degree or certification is not automatically required to enter DYA Coach Development. Relevant education, recognized professional credentials, coaching experience, movement/recovery experience, and demonstrated competency will all be considered. What We're Looking For Technical knowledge matters, but we're equally interested in someone's ability to learn, communicate, connect with people, and develop as a professional.
The ideal candidate is:
Professional, dependable, and punctual Curious and coachable A strong communicator Interested in movement quality, mobility, recovery, and human performance Comfortable working with different ages and populations, including youth/adolescent athletes, active adults, and older adults Comfortable adapting coaching and communication to different physical abilities and individual needs Comfortable providing appropriate hands-on assistance after training and approval Willing to learn and follow DYA systems rather than simply applying a pre-existing service model Receptive to coaching, mentorship, and feedback Able to maintain appropriate professional and scope-of-practice boundaries Comfortable working in both facility and community/partner environments Able to represent DYA professionally with athletes, parents, adults, families, and community partners Interested in developing professionally and growing with DYA Reliable transportation is required for approved off-site assignments. Paid Coach Development & Compensation DYA uses a competency-based development pathway. Coach Development — $15/hour Learn DYA systems through observation, education, mentorship, supervised practice, and practical Coach Development. Supervised Movement & Recovery Coaching — $18/hour Take on approved supervised coaching and client responsibilities after demonstrating foundational competency. Movement & Recovery Coach — $20/hour Take on expanded responsibility for approved movement, mobility, recovery, Active Living™, athlete recovery, and related services after DYA competency approval. Qualified Restore & Perform™ Coach — $24/hour Independently deliver Restore & Perform™ across approved DYA populations after completing DYA development requirements and demonstrating the required coaching, safety, professional, scope, and client-management competencies. More experienced candidates may be considered for placement appropriate to their education, professional credentials, relevant experience, and demonstrated competency. Advancement is based on demonstrated competency and responsibility—not simply time employed. Previous experience with assisted stretching, massage therapy, mobility, fitness, rehabilitation-related environments, or recovery services does not automatically qualify a candidate for independent Restore & Perform™ delivery. All coaches must demonstrate competency within DYA's system before taking on independent R&P responsibilities. Certifications & Requirements Current CPR/AED certification is required before appropriate independent client delivery. Background screening will be required before appropriate unsupervised client responsibilities. Additional DYA training, practical development, and competency assessment are required before independent Restore & Perform™ delivery. Professional credentials are valued but do not automatically determine placement or advancement within the DYA development pathway. Candidates are expected to work within the appropriate boundaries of their education, credentials, DYA role, and professional scope. Schedule This is a part-time position with approximately 5-15 hours per week, depending on programming, client demand, availability, demonstrated competency, and responsibilities. Candidates with weekday morning and early-afternoon availability are strongly preferred. Additional afternoon, evening, and Saturday opportunities may also be available. Some local travel to approved community and partner locations may be required. Hours and responsibilities may expand as DYA's Restore & Perform™, Active Living™, athlete recovery, community, and partner programming grows.
