Outreach Worker Mental Illness Recovery Center - 2.4 Columbia, SC Job Details Full-time $50,000 - $55,000 a year 6 hours ago Benefits Paid parental leave Paid holidays Disability insurance Parental leave 401(k) 6% Match 401(k) matching Bereavement leave Life insurance Qualifications Bachelor's degree in social science Driver's License Bachelor's degree Driving Defensive driving Full Job Description The Mental Illness Recovery Center (MIRCI) is a progressive Non-Profit that assists homeless individuals, adults and youth, with clinical needs and permanent housing and is seeking an Outreach Worker.
Function:
In coordination with Outreach staff, engages in daily outreach to those in the Midlands who are homeless to provide assistance with securing food, shelter, clothing, and referrals to other supportive services.
Employee Classification:
Considered a professional, nonexempt position that is regular full-time. Guidelines for
Distinguishing Characteristics:
Conduct daily street outreach, along with shelter in reach, to develop a relationship that will assist clients with addressing barriers to obtaining services and housing and appropriate health care needs.
Examples of Work:
Participates in outreach team meetings. Provides advisory and consultative services to others within the outreach program of the agency. Conducts a
VI-SPDAT
(Vulnerability Index-Service Prioritization Decisions Assistance Tool) on all new clients to connect them to the proper intervention and services. Ensures all program data is accurate and provided to administrative/data staff for entry into HMIS. Identification and outreach to homeless persons to determine who is in need of services. Provides street case management services with the goal of linking youth to long-term supportive services and housing. Works with agencies/organizations to maximize clients' abilities to stabilize housing and improve self-sufficiency. Works with MIRCI's Homeless Outreach Team throughout the community to identify and engage youth/young adults who are homeless or at risk.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of basic health and welfare services provided by other public and private agencies. Ability to establish and maintain effective contact with individuals, families, and representatives of other professional disciplines. Some knowledge of the techniques of interviewing and counseling. Ability to express ideas clearly, both orally and in writing. Ability to be credentialed and maintain a license in
HMIS Necessary Special Requirements:
Must have a valid SC driver's license and a good driving record. Must be certifiable in defensive driving and Standard CPR/1st-Aid. Some local travel within the community.
Minimum Requirements:
A Bachelor's Degree in the social sciences and 2 years of experience in a human services program Our team members give so much to our clients, it is important that MIRCI takes care of our team members.
