We are seeking an Afterschool Site Lead who enjoys working with youth, takes pride in creating a positive program environment, and is ready to provide day-to-day leadership at an assigned program location. What You'll Do As an Afterschool Site Lead, you will help lead the daily operations of a school-age enrichment program. You will support program quality, staff coordination, participant safety, curriculum implementation, family engagement, and applicable childcare licensing requirements.

Key Responsibilities Youth Safety & Supervision:

Maintain an attentive and supportive program environment by monitoring participant activities, conducting required headcounts, maintaining attendance records, and following established supervision and safety procedures.

Daily Site Leadership:

Coordinate daily program operations and help ensure the assigned site is prepared, organized, welcoming, and operating according to YMCA standards and applicable childcare licensing requirements.

Staff Support:

Provide day-to-day direction and support to program staff. Reinforce program expectations, supervision practices, assigned responsibilities, and YMCA policies and procedures.

Program Implementation:

Facilitate and support age-appropriate activities using YMCA-approved curriculum, including enrichment, recreation, physical activity, social-emotional learning, and structured and unstructured play.

Positive Behavior Support:

Use developmentally appropriate and positive guidance techniques to promote respectful interactions, inclusion, cooperation, and a supportive environment for participants.

Program Quality:

Support continuous improvement by observing participant engagement, reviewing program practices, and making appropriate adjustments to strengthen the overall participant experience.

Licensing & Documentation:

Maintain required program records, rosters, attendance information, incident documentation, safety materials, and site postings in accordance with applicable requirements.

Emergency Preparedness:

Participate in required safety drills and follow established procedures for responding to incidents, emergencies, and other program needs.

Family Engagement:

Build positive relationships with parents and caregivers through professional communication regarding program activities, participant experiences, and program-related questions or concerns.

School & Community Partnerships:

Maintain positive working relationships with school representatives and YMCA partners while supporting effective communication regarding program operations.

Program Environment:

Help maintain clean, organized, and appropriately arranged program areas and equipment. Assist with program setup and breakdown as needed.

Enrollment & Retention:

Support efforts to create a welcoming participant and family experience that encourages continued enrollment and program participation.

Youth Protection:

Follow YMCA child protection practices, including appropriate boundaries, authorized pick-up procedures, supervision expectations, incident reporting requirements, and established procedures for reporting safety concerns.

Program Evaluation:

Participate in YMCA program quality and continuous-improvement initiatives, including Youth Program Quality-related processes as assigned. Qualifications Must meet the minimum age requirements established for the position and applicable Texas childcare licensing standards. For designated Site Director responsibilities, candidates must be at least 21 years of age . High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Must meet applicable Texas childcare licensing qualifications for the designated role, including required training, education, and/or experience. Previous experience working with school-age youth in childcare, education, recreation, youth development, community programming, or a similar environment preferred. Ability to organize and facilitate age-appropriate youth activities. Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills. Ability to work effectively with children, families, school partners, and team members from a variety of backgrounds. Ability to complete required YMCA and licensing-related training. CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training must be completed within the timeframe required for the position. Successful completion of required pre-employment screening and background-check processes in accordance with applicable YMCA and state requirements. Ability to meet any additional documentation or health-related requirements applicable to licensed childcare programs. Physical & Work Environment This is an active position in a youth program environment. Team members regularly move throughout classrooms, cafeterias, gymnasiums, playgrounds, and other indoor and outdoor program spaces. Essential job duties may include standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, setting up program materials, participating in recreational activities, and assisting with program equipment. The position may occasionally require lifting or moving materials weighing up to approximately 50 pounds , with assistance when appropriate. Typical ScheduleBefore & After School Programs Part-time schedule, Monday through Friday, generally during the following program hours: Morning programming: approximately 6:30 a.m.-8:30 a.m.

Afternoon programming:

approximately 2:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. Schedules are based on program needs and the applicable school district calendar. School Break & Camp Programming During school breaks or camp seasons, available shifts may fall within program operating hours of approximately 6:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday . Some staff meetings, trainings, family events, or occasional weekend activities may be scheduled with advance notice. Why Work at the YMCA?
