JOB SUMMARY

Our Housing Coordinator will serve as the community liaison to identify, develop, and maintain affordable housing resources for our participants. This position will collaborate with local housing authorities, property owners, and other community housing leaders to generate leads and establish a viable inventory for affordable housing options. This positon will utilize a combination of training, experience, knowledge and common sense to discern, assess and address the client's housing and support service needs. The Housing Coordinator will then utilize that assessment to identify, coordinate, and support individuals and families' connection to appropriate housing and services. In addition, they must demonstrate good judgment, the ability to work independently, the ability to solve problems and to work effectively as a team member. Maintain case files, and perform timely and accurate collection of client data with entry into the organization's databases. Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Housing Coordination Meet with program participants to discuss housing opportunities, assess housing barriers, make a housing plan, and assist throughout the housing application process. Identify, coordinate, and support individuals and families' connection to appropriate housing and services. Work with case managers to match program participants' needs and choices with housing options. Work with case managers to provide mediation and advocacy with property owners as needed to resolve concerns or problems to help the program participant maintain stable housing. Develop and maintain expertise in public and private resources for housing opportunities applicable to the county's low-income population. Develop a resource referral base and build relationships with community-based organizations, including educational, health, governmental and other human service agencies. Assist with program development, implementation and evaluation. Ensure accurate and timely collection of client data related to Project HOPE programs. Prepare and maintain case files as well as monthly administrative reports, client statistics and progress reports. Housing Advocacy/Partnership Collaborate with local housing authorities, property owners, and other community housing leaders to generate leads and establish a viable inventory for affordable housing options. Create, maintain, and regularly update the housing options inventory with detailed information to assist in matching program participants with housing options that are suitable. Other Related Duties Act as an ambassador of House of Hope and ensure the highest quality services to our customers, clients and supporters. Participate in disaster- or emergency-related duties, as needed. Provide support to fellow department team members, as well as outside departments, as needed. Perform all duties in conformance with appropriate safety and security standards. Attend training, as requested. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience Bachelor's degree or years of directly related experience may substitute for each year of the education requirement if there is demonstrated knowledge, ability and skills to perform the work. Degrees in Social Work or a related field preferred. Minimum of two years' work experience in case management in a non-profit setting serving a diverse population and/or significant life experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred. Knowledge of the principles and practices of social work interviewing and case management methods and techniques. Knowledge of problem-solving techniques, problem identification and evaluation. Understanding of the basics of landlord-tenant law, rental contract, and fair housing requirements, to assist landlords, program participants and case managers. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of community social services and resources. Knowledge of life skills, financial planning, money management skills, and independent living functions. Ability to organize, set priorities and meet deadlines. Ability to maintain confidentiality of clients, donors, co-workers and agency. Possesses interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships with customers, co-workers and representatives of other agencies. Adapts to frequent changes in the work environment. Knowledge about the operation of general office equipment, standard computer-based programs and applications, including Microsoft Office. Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours, as required. Must have reliable transportation. Ability to maintain clean, well-groomed appearance and dress appropriately for the position. Pay:

$45,000.00 - $48,000.00 per year
