Position Summary:

The Ministry Discovery Intern is a leadership position which exists to develop individuals in\npreparation for full-time ministry through Salvation Army Officership. This individual will work with the Corps Officer to\nlearn and experience involvement with and leadership of the daily and weekly responsibilities and programming of the\ncorps.\nThe Ministry Discovery Intern Program is to experience the holistic ministry and mission of The Salvation Army. This\nrequires that duties and responsibilities will be adjusted based on corps programming and seasonal needs. There is a\ntraining emphasis and local service priorities to give a well-rounded experience and exposure to Salvation Army\nprogramming and leadership.

Essential Responsibilities:

Participate in worship and Christian education programs at the corps through planning, leading,\npreaching, teaching, and supporting others in those roles. That would include activities such as Sunday\nSchool, Bible Studies, Corps Cadets, small groups, etc.\nParticipate in and coordinate the development of corps programming, worship arts, music programs,\nand special programming. That would include activities such as VBS, Day Camp, Character Building,\nleadership training and evangelistic outreaches.\nRepresent The Salvation Army at community events such as, service clubs, committee participation,\nlocal school functions and ministerial associations.\nParticipate in and develop community center, social service, and corps programs.\nCoordination of and participation in seasonal programs such as Bell Ringing campaign, summer camps\nand other special events, as assigned.\nParticipate in pastoral and evangelistic ministries, Pastoral Care Council, Corps Council, and youth/adult\nplanning committees.\nAssist in the upkeep of property and facility preparation for programming.\nParticipate in corps financial goals by observing budgets and support of fund-raising efforts.\nWork with and help establish relationships The Salvation Army has such as staff, the public, clients,\nprogram participants, parents, community leaders, volunteers, community service workers, outside\ngroups, and community residents.\nWill assist in the supervision of youth and program participants, volunteers, and community service Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

High School Diploma / GED, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities\n3 to 4 years of college in a related field\n3 to 4 years of Full-time non-Salvation Army ministry experience (preferred)

Maintain strict confidentiality

Computer Skills:

Proficient in Microsoft Office 365\nWorking knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint\nWillingness to learn new software as needed

Certificates and Licenses:
