Full Job Description Title:

Shelter Coordinator Part-Time 2nd

Shift Scheduled Days:

Saturday•Sunday 4:00pm•12:00am; however, must be flexible at times to work nontraditional hours as job requirements dictate to facilitate volunteer and special event activities and building shutdown. Required monthly

Shelter Coordinator Services Meeting:

Last Saturday of the Month 9:30am•10:30am

Shelter Coordinator The Shelter Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the shelter during assigned shifts, ensuring a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all participants, staff, and volunteers. This role includes supervising shelter activities, maintaining facility standards, supporting meal service operations, and serving as a primary point of contact for participants and the public. The Shelter Coordinator plays a key role in fostering a positive shelter environment by engaging participants with dignity and respect, addressing concerns as they arise, and supporting overall program operations. What You'll Do You will oversee daily shelter operations while ensuring a safe, respectful, and well-coordinated environment for all who enter the shelter.

Responsibilities include:

Overseeing participant activities to maintain a positive and structured shelter environment Ensuring policies, procedures, and safety standards are consistently followed Monitoring shelter operations, including participant chores, facility walkthroughs, and daily routines Supporting dining hall operations and coordinating with Food Services staff Documenting participant interactions and incidents for Case Management follow-up Engaging with volunteers, community members, and participants in a professional and respectful manner You will work closely with You will collaborate with leadership staff, Food Services team members, volunteers, and community partners to ensure smooth daily operations and a supportive environment for all participants. Who We're Looking For You are a dependable and attentive team member who can effectively oversee shelter operations while maintaining a safe, structured, and respectful environment for all. You are comfortable taking initiative during your shift—supervising participants, supporting volunteers, and ensuring daily operations run smoothly. You demonstrate sound judgment and remain calm in dynamic situations, with the ability to enforce policies while treating every individual with dignity and respect. You are observant, proactive, and able to balance accountability with a supportive, participant-centered approach. Strong communication and conflict resolution skills are essential, as you will regularly engage with participants, staff, volunteers, and the public. You are organized, able to manage multiple responsibilities at once, and committed to maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and facility standards at all times. Experience in shelter services, human services, or a supervisory role is preferred. Flexibility is required, as this position may include evenings, weekends, and nontraditional hours to support ongoing shelter operations.
