Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Peer Support Specialist to join our dynamic behavioral health team. Responsibilities Provide peer-led support to individuals experiencing mental health or addiction issues, promoting recovery and self-advocacy. Utilize crisis intervention and crisis management skills to de-escalate situations and ensure safety for clients and staff. Employ motivational interviewing techniques to encourage clients' engagement in treatment plans and goal setting. Share personal experiences to inspire hope and demonstrate that recovery is possible. Collaborate with clinical teams to coordinate care, document interactions within electronic health record (EHR) systems, and track progress. Mentor clients through behavioral health challenges, fostering skill development and resilience-building strategies. Assist in developing community resources and facilitate connections to additional support services as needed. Qualifications Lived experience with mental health conditions or substance use recovery, demonstrating personal resilience and insight. Strong knowledge of behavioral health principles, mental health counseling, addiction counseling, and social work practices. Proficiency in crisis intervention, crisis management, and behavioral de-escalation techniques. Experience with motivational interviewing methods to support client engagement. Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams using EHR systems for documentation. Excellent communication skills with an empathetic approach to mentoring and supporting others. Certification or training in crisis intervention or behavioral health preferred but not required.
