Job Description
BAART Programs seeks a Temporary Counselor to provide compassionate, evidence-based care for patients with opioid use disorder. In this role, you will conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and deliver individual and group counseling within a medication-assisted treatment setting. You will collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team, support crisis intervention, maintain detailed clinical documentation, and connect patients to community resources. This temporary position is ideal for professionals passionate about recovery-focused, patient-centered care in a mission-driven environment. Responsibilities Provide short-term counseling to patients receiving medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorder Conduct intake assessments, psychosocial evaluations, and treatment planning Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions using evidence-based practices Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and progress notes Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and case managers on coordinated care plans Monitor patient progress, address relapse risks, and support recovery goals Provide crisis intervention and referrals to community resources as needed Ensure compliance with federal, state, and clinic policies and confidentiality standards Participate in case conferences, trainings, and quality improvement activities Educate patients and families on addiction, treatment options, and recovery supports Required Skills Substance use disorder counseling Clinical assessment and intake Treatment planning Motivational interviewing Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques Group facilitation Crisis intervention Clinical documentation (EMR) Knowledge of methadone/buprenorphine treatment Confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
