This is a professional position providing drug and alcohol abuse counseling to Behavioral Health clients.

REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Minimum of an Associates of Arts degree. Knowledge of alcoholism and drug addiction, substance abuse treatment techniques, and twelve-step recovery programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous required. Recovering counselors must be drug and alcohol-free a minimum of two years prior to employment. At least six months experience interviewing, screening and assessing abuse clients required. Experience in objective testing (e.g., SASSI, AUP) related to substance abuse issues as well as training and/or education in substance abuse issues required. Experience developing and implementing educational / preventative outreach programs strongly preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must be a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (LADAC); OR a Licensed Substance Abuse Associate (LSAA); OR have licensure as a Master's or doctorate level mental health counselor, social worker, or psychologist, e.g., LMHC, LPC, LMSW, RMHC, LPCC, LMFT, LPAT, LISW, LCSW, LCP. Must have certification/licensure by date of hire and maintain current throughout employment. Have or be able to obtain First Aid and BLS/CPR certifications within 30 days of hire.
