Qualifications:
Qualified Health Professional, as defined by OASAS. Bachelor's or Master's Degrees required. Will consider alternative combination of education and experience. Needs knowledge of Addictions and Recovery, self-help group process and principles of counseling. Having knowledge of community resources is beneficial. Needs ability to relate effectively with staff, clients, and professional community. Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary. Knowledge of supervision process preferred. Sound judgement and cultural competency also needed. Proficiency with basic computer applications and ability to problem solve and perform duties independently are required. Bilingual applicants preferred.
Job Description:
Counselor will maintain a case load and perform essential counseling responsibilities, including, but not limited to, screening, intake and orientation, evaluation and intervention, treatment planning, referrals, crisis intervention, counseling, patient education, case management, reporting, and record keeping. This position also requires collaboration with referral sources and other parties involved in patient care.
