YOUTH WORKER

Job Code Status Non Exempt Line of Authority This position is supervised by the Program Director and/or their designee. This position does not supervise any other personnel. The position may require periodic participation in peer review activities. Special Population Children/Adolescent, Substance Abuse, DD, SMI, Adult Position Summary Under supervision, provides behavior and respite management, psychotherapy and related clinical activities to clinic population. Position may include assistance with crisis intervention for at-risk families. The Youth Worker is expected to cooperate as a team member in the provision of a therapeutic environment that encourages each customer=s emotional growth. This position will be expected to maintain an acceptable level of productivity as measured by billable hours. The Youth Worker is required to meet all standards for clinical documentation. . Duties and Responsibilities Adhere to personnel policy and comply with agency requirements for ethical and professional behavior. Provide one to one, group and behavior management services. Assists in implementing and providing behavioral health treatment. Provides recreation, leisure and pro-social skills for patient. Provides patient confidentiality. As assigned, work with other agencies to provide wrap around services that prevent out of home placement. Provides transportation, as assigned. This position requires positive and active support of the company, the customer and the co-worker. Must participate in quality management and quality improvement activities. Promotes quality and safety to help maintain a safe and pleasant work environment, follows safety regulations, and actively contributes towards a safe workplace. Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or designee.

Skills/Abilities Required:

Fluent in English, both verbally and in writing. Literate. Able to effectively employ analytical and problem-solving skills. Able to prioritize, handle multiple tasks with customer. Ability to accurately complete difficult paperwork in a timely manner producing professional documents, charting in customers charts, and record keeping using TJC, NARBHA and DHS standards.

Preferred:

Experience and training in crisis intervention. Familiar with psychotropic drugs and their side effects. Primary Contacts Frequent interaction with clients and their support system, usually their family. Interface as needed with peers and other clinical teams' members. Collaboration, as appropriate, with other community resources/referral agencies, with the customer's consent.

Position Requisites Qualifications and Experience Required:

High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma. Interest in working with emotionally disturbed children and families. Current Driver's License and proof of auto insurance. CPR and First Aid certification. Fingerprint Clearance. Comply with a Drug Free workplace. Knowledge and ability to define the needs of the customer served. Knowledge and ability to define the needs of the client served. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team

1. Knowledge of symptoms related to qualifying diagnosis. 2. Ability to identify and communicate signs of regression and deterioration. 3. Knowledge of interventions to foster self care and ADL skill development. For Those Working with

Substance Abuse:

1. Able to identify signs and symptoms of Substance Abuse and Chemical Dependency. 2. Knowledge of range of treatment for dependence including relapse, prevention, strategies and self-help groups. 3. Able to provide a diagnostic impression per DSM IV criteria for Substance Abuse and Chemical Dependency. 4. Knowledge of history of substance dependence and of the biopsychosocial influences and effects of dependencies.

For Those Working With DD:

Knowledge of symptoms related to qualifying diagnosis. Ability to identify and communicate signs of regression and deterioration. Knowledge of Article 9 (customer rights) of State Requirements. Knowledge of Customer Intervention Techniques relative to self care and ADL skill development. Working Conditions Physical Requirements Able to sit for extended periods of time. Able to speak clearly in ordinary conversation and phone communications. Able to hear ordinary conversation and phone communications. Visual capacity necessary to fulfill documentation, responsibilities of job. Emotional Capabilities Able to work with customers who are emotionally distressed, in crisis. Able to work with individuals who have been abused or perpetrated abuse. Able to work with customers who abuse substances. Equipment Operation Able to drive a vehicle.
