Overnight Residential Counselor

Job Description

The Berhe Group, Inc. is seeking Senior Child Care Workers to join our residential team. Our mission is to help children and families create a better future, focusing on foster youth ages 6 to Non-minor Dependency. As a Senior Child Care Worker, you will supervise youth, assist them in overcoming trauma, and help them achieve their goals. The Berhe Group, Inc. is hiring for EVENING shifts, with weekend availability required.
Senior Child Care Worker Responsibilities:
Supervise and care for children individually and in groups. Assist children in group settings and address individual problems. Administer discipline and set behavioral limits. Monitor children's progress and identify the need for professional services, communicating findings to professional staff. Attend Child and Family Team Meetings (CFTM). Maintain documentation of facility activities. Ensure the cleanliness of the facility. Act as liaison between the administrator and programs in the facility manager's absence. Supervise staff and daily operations, organize work, and delegate responsibilities. Inventory residents' belongings upon entry or exit. Adhere to the budget as delegated by the facility manager. Attend staff meetings and training programs. Assist with field trips and other activities. Distribute medication and notify when inventory is low.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste, and smell. Occasionally required to climb stairs or balance. Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Ability to drive company vehicles. Occasionally perform moderate amounts of running and jumping.
Working Environment:
Exposure to outside weather conditions. Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The noise level can be moderate to high.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or valid Child Development Teaching Permit. 12 semester units of Early Childhood Education, Adolescent Development, or Foster and Kinship Care Education with 100 hours of experience working with youth. Valid certificate as an Alcohol Counselor, Drug Counselor, or Alcohol and Drug Counselor with 100 hours of experience working with youth. One year of experience as a staff or volunteer at a group home or short-term residential therapeutic center.
Requirements:
Pass criminal/fingerprinting background check, TB Test, physical exam, and drug test. Valid California Driver's License with an acceptable DMV record. Must be 21 years or older.
Work Schedule:
