Boys & Girls Clubs of South SLO County is looking for enthusiastic, dependable, and caring team members to join us as Youth Development Associates. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with youth, wants to gain valuable experience, or is looking for a rewarding part-time position. No previous experience working with youth is required. We provide training and support to help you succeed. As a Youth Development Associate, you will help create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment where youth can learn, grow, build confidence, and have fun. What You'll Do As a Youth Development Associate, you will: Supervise and engage youth in a safe, positive, and supportive environment. Build positive relationships with Club members and serve as a positive role model. Lead and facilitate enrichment activities in areas such as STEM, academics, recreation, and physical education. Prepare and implement lesson plans and engaging activities. Encourage youth participation in programs and activities. Provide guidance, encouragement, and support to Club members. Assist with recreation programs, special activities, and Club events. Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming activity environment. Ensure the proper use and care of program materials and supplies. Promote positive behavior and help youth develop teamwork, leadership, and social skills. Communicate with families, school staff, and Club staff in a professional and positive manner. Support partnerships with schools, families, community organizations, and local businesses. Participate in staff meetings and required monthly training. Follow all Boys & Girls Clubs and Lucia Mar Unified School District policies and safety procedures. Report safety concerns and critical incidents immediately. Perform administrative duties and other responsibilities as assigned. What We're Looking For You do not need extensive experience to be successful in this position. We are looking for individuals who are: Dependable and responsible. Positive, patient, and enthusiastic. Comfortable working with youth in a group setting. Willing to learn and take direction. Able to communicate effectively with youth, families, coworkers, and school staff. Able to help create a safe and welcoming environment. Able to lead activities and keep youth engaged. Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. Committed to the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs. Experience working with youth is preferred, but not required. Schedule Requirements This is a year-round, in-person position. Candidates must be available a minimum of three days per week, Monday through Friday , for our Before and/or After School Programs. Candidates must also be available a minimum of three days per week, Monday through Friday , during our out-of-school programs, including: Summer Programs Fall Break Winter Break Spring Break Schedules may vary based on the needs of the Club and program. Minimum Requirements Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be able to pass a thorough background check. Current TB test required. Must complete the required Basic Skills Test or provide proof of 60 college units. Reliable transportation required. Must be able to travel to assigned Club sites. Must attend required monthly trainings. CPR and First Aid certification preferred, but not required. Physical Requirements Youth Development Associates work both indoors and outdoors at school and Club sites. The position requires the ability to stand for extended periods, kneel, reach, bend, and participate in moderate physical activities. Employees must be able to lift objects weighing 25 pounds or more and safely supervise youth during recreational and physical activities. The position also requires the ability to read and write in order to complete reports and accurately document program and organizational information. Why Join Boys & Girls Clubs?
