Job Description
Compatior Counseling Center is a community-based Outpatient Substance Use Disorder treat program certified by the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) and approved by Los Angeles County SAPC. We provide Outpatient Drug-Free (ODF), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), and Recovery Bridge Housing (RBH) services as part of a comprehensive continuum of care designed to support long-term recovery. Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and qualified Youth Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselor to provide SUD counseling in an outpatient treatment setting. The SUD Counselor provides direct services to individuals diagnosed with substance use disorders, including assessment, treatment planning, individual counseling, group counseling, care coordination, and discharge planning. Responsibilities Conduct screening and intake evaluations to determine eligibility for services using ASAM Criteria. Complete biopsychosocial assessments and establish medical necessity for treatment. Develop and maintain individualized treatment plans consistent with client needs and SAPC documentation standards. Provide individual counseling sessions addressing substance use, relapse prevention, coping skills, and recovery support. Facilitate group counseling sessions using evidence-based curricula. Provide crisis intervention and support stabilization when needed. Provide discharge planning and transition support to appropriate levels of care. Experience Candidates should possess the following skills and experience: Certified Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselor (required) Bilingual in English and Spanish (required) Solid understanding of mental health and addiction counseling practices Knowledge of ASAM evaluation processes and case management principles. Previous experience in patient care settings with a focus on individual/group counseling is preferred. requirements SAPC Provider Manual standards HIPAA confidentiality regulations Complete required documentation including: Intake documentation ASAM level of care determination Treatment plans Progress notes Continuing services justifications Discharge summaries Maintain documentation that supports medical necessity. Qualifications Active SUD counselor certification or registration recognized by DHCS Knowledge of ASAM Criteria and level of care determinations Understanding of substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions Knowledge of confidentiality regulations (HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2) Ability to maintain accurate clinical documentation Ability to facilitate individual and group counseling sessions Ability to work effectively with diverse populations Strong interpersonal and communication skills Bilingual English/Spanish (Preferred) Experience working in SAPC-funded programs Outpatient Drug Free (ODF) Intensive Outpatient (IOP) Experience working with justice-involved individuals or individuals experiencing homelessness Must be certified/registered by one of the following: Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) Certified Addiction Treatment Counselor (CATC) Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC) Registered SUD Counselor working toward certification (must maintain active registration in good standing)
