Description:
After-School Program Counselor Join our dedicated team at the YMCA as an After-School Program Counselor and make a positive impact on the lives of children and youth in our community. We are seeking enthusiastic, caring, and responsible individuals who are passionate about supporting young learners in a safe and engaging environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to foster growth, develop leadership skills, and contribute to a vibrant community.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and engage children and youth in after-school activities, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment Plan and implement age-appropriate recreational, educational, and enrichment activities Foster positive relationships with participants, parents, and staff to promote a welcoming atmosphere Enforce program rules and safety procedures consistently Support children in their social, emotional, and academic development Maintain accurate attendance records and communicate effectively with parents and guardians Collaborate with team members to create a dynamic and supportive program environment
Requirements:
Skills and Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or experience in child development or education is a plus Previous experience working with children or in youth programs preferred Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing needs Reliable, responsible, and punctual Ability to work independently and as part of a team CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire) DCF 45 hours (or willingness to obtain within the first 90 days) At the YMCA, we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment where every team member can thrive.
