Job Summary:
The City of League City is seeking a dedicated Lead Crime Victims Advocate to meet with victims of crime (in the office or on-scene), provide crisis intervention, psychosocial education, and psychotherapy to reduce psychological trauma and PTSD. This position also acts as the Program Director for the General Victim Assistance Grant Program, supervises and trains additional advocates and social work interns, and assists citizens struggling with substance abuse, homelessness, and mental health disorders.
Key Responsibilities:
Victim Support & Intervention:
Provide crisis intervention, short-term psychotherapy, and support for victims of domestic violence, child abuse, sexual abuse, suicide, serious accidents, and emotional trauma. Assist with emergency protective orders, hospitalizations for mental health, and court accompaniment.
Supervision & Administration:
Recruit, train, and supervise crime victims advocates, social work interns, and volunteers. Write, maintain, and manage the General Victims Assistance Grant Program, budget, and related statistics.
Community Outreach & Training:
Plan and host community outreach events (such as the Domestic Violence Candlelight Vigil and National Crime Victims Rights Week). Provide mental health training to police department personnel, local organizations, and the community.
Crisis & Social Services:
Assist citizens with substance abuse, homelessness, and suicide prevention, including coordinating transportation to hospitals and shelters. Partner with local service providers and government agencies.
The company is looking for:
Education:
Masters Degree in a mental health field.
Licensure:
Must be a Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Therapist.
Experience:
Three years of experience in crisis intervention and/or psychotherapy; OR three years of experience working with survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and/or individuals with mental health disorders.
Licensing:
Valid Texas driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the criminal justice field; bilingual in English and Spanish.
