Job Description

Location:
Denver, CO or Southlake, TX Reports to:
Chief Technology Officer Compensation:
Up to $150,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and potential value to the organization
Work Arrangement:
Primarily office-based; hybrid may be considered for an exceptional candidate SEMA Construction is seeking an accomplished and highly capable technology leader to build and run SEMA's artificial intelligence and business intelligence capability. Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer and working closely with executive leadership, this position will partner directly with cross functional teams - operations, finance, estimating, and field leadership to identify and implement opportunities to leverage AI across operational and administrative areas of the organization. This is not an entry-level or supplemental technology position, we are looking for a technically exceptional professional who can bring capabilities, experience, and strategic thinking that expand the AI adoption within the organization. Key Responsibilities Build and execute SEMA's AI adoption roadmap in partnership with the CTO — from opportunity identification through pilot, deployment, and measured results Work with cross functional teams — field operations, estimating, project controls, equipment, safety, HR, accounting — to find practical, high-return applications of AI Advance SEMA's Power BI environment: semantic models, data quality, report portfolio, adoption, and performance Build data pipelines and models against ERP, Azure SQL, and related systems Design and deliver AI training and enablement for employees at every level, from executives to field supervisors Establish practical standards for responsible, secure AI use, in coordination with the CTO Mentor analysts and developers on the technology team and help strengthen the team's overall capability Present results and recommendations to executive leadership Required 8+ years in data, analytics, or software, with meaningful recent hands-on work in AI/LLM applications Experience designing practical technology solutions in environments where security, data sensitivity, and responsible delivery matter. Deep, demonstrable the Microsoft 365 ecosystem — SharePoint, Teams, Dataverse, Power BI expertise: DAX, semantic modeling, performance tuning, governance at scale Strong SQL and data engineering skills; experience with Azure data services Track record of shipping AI or analytics solutions that people actually adopted and that produced measurable business results Stay current with evolving AI capabilities — agentic AI patterns, new tooling — and translate these into practical applications for your business units. Proven ability to teach, mentor and enable non-technical users — this is a core requirement, not a nice-to-have Experience mentoring or leading technical staff Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Data Science, Engineering, Business Analytics, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent high-level professional experience will also be considered. Preferred Construction, engineering, manufacturing, or other asset-heavy industry experience Viewpoint Vista or comparable ERP experience Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps, SharePoint, Dataverse Power Automate, Copilot Studio), Microsoft Fabric, M365 ecosystem including SharePoint, Teams. Python, for data and AI workloads Product sense — comfort with MVPs, iteration, and user feedback over big-bang delivery The Person We Are Looking For Technical expertise alone will not define success in this role. We are looking for someone who is intellectually curious, highly motivated, collaborative, positive, patient, and passionate about technology and its ability to improve a business . The ideal candidate will be an outstanding communicator who can work effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences. This person should be comfortable moving between strategic discussions with executive leadership and hands-on collaboration with technology professionals and business users. Most importantly, we are seeking someone who wants to help build capability—not simply maintain technology . The right individual will have the opportunity to influence how SEMA uses AI, data, analytics, and technology across the organization and play a significant role in shaping our future technology strategy. Location & Work Arrangement This position may be based at either SEMA's Denver, Colorado headquarters or Southlake, Texas office . Our preference is for the individual to regularly work from one of these locations to maintain close collaboration with leadership and the technology team. Compensation SEMA is prepared to offer annual compensation up to $150,000 , depending on the successful candidate's experience, qualifications, technical expertise, and potential value to the organization. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
