This is not an entry-level laser operator position. We are looking for someone who can confidently program, set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC flat laser cutting equipment while maintaining production, quality, and efficiency. Our laser department includes two Mitsubishi LVPlus II 3-axis laser cutting systems equipped with automated material handling and an elevator/storage system . The right candidate should be comfortable taking a job from print/program through completed cut parts with minimal supervision. Responsibilities Program and operate Mitsubishi 3-axis laser cutting machines Set up jobs according to prints, work instructions, and production requirements Create, modify, and optimize laser programs and nests Load and manage programs at the machine Operate automated sheet loading/unloading and elevator material handling systems Select proper cutting parameters for various materials and thicknesses Verify material type, thickness, and job requirements before cutting Perform first-piece inspections and verify parts meet print requirements Monitor cut quality and make necessary adjustments Troubleshoot cutting, programming, material handling, and machine issues Minimize scrap and maximize material utilization Maintain production flow and meet scheduled priorities Perform routine machine checks and basic preventative maintenance Keep the laser and surrounding work area clean and organized Communicate machine, tooling, material, or quality issues to management Work closely with engineering, quality, and other manufacturing departments as needed
Qualifications Required:
Previous experience programming and operating CNC 3-axis/flat laser cutting equipment Ability to independently set up and run laser cutting jobs Ability to read and understand manufacturing drawings and blueprints Understanding of tolerances and dimensional inspection Experience using standard measuring equipment Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability Ability to work independently and maintain production priorities Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
Highly Preferred:
Mitsubishi laser experience Experience with Mitsubishi LVPlus II equipment Experience with automated sheet loading/unloading systems Experience with tower/elevator material storage systems Experience programming/nesting sheet metal components Prototype, low-volume, or high-mix manufacturing experience Experience cutting mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum What We're Looking For We want someone who understands that being a strong laser programmer/operator is more than pushing Cycle Start. You should be able to look at a job, understand the print and material requirements, develop or adjust the program, set up the machine, produce a quality first piece, and keep the equipment running efficiently. Experience with Mitsubishi equipment is a major plus, but we are willing to consider experienced laser programmers/operators from other platforms who have the technical ability to quickly learn our equipment.
