Job Description

The Orleans Southwest Supervisory Union is seeking a dynamic Technology Specialist. The successful candidate will have the following. The position is full-time, year-round, and comes with excellent benefits and generous paid time off.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Can troubleshoot & resolve basic tech issues.
  • Knowledge and experience with client operating systems including Windows, Macintosh, iOS, and Chrome OS.
  • Knowledge and experience with the use and support of software applications, especially Google Suite for Education.
  • Ability to follow school policies and procedures and respect confidential information.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others and to provide technical advice and instruction to technical and non-technical users, both verbally and in writing.
  • Prioritize workloads and work independently.
  • Willing to learn new systems and technologies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide maintenance, diagnosis, and repair hardware. Install software and perform upgrades. Contact vendors for warranty issues. Maintain records of repairs and replacements.
  • Install, configure, and support specialized application software/subscriptions, including software for State assessments.
  • Manage peripherals.
  • Maintain projectors and other AV devices, including changing bulbs and resetting hours, cleaning air filters, updating firmware if required, etc.
  • Manage and support shared use carts and computer stations, including periodic straightening out of cabling and cleaning.
  • Reboot or restart network devices as needed based on training.
  • Ensure that updates to AntiVirus/Malware software are in place.
  • Maintain inventory of devices and software, including yearly verification of equipment location.
  • Update records and documentation as needed.
  • Reset passwords for users as needed.
  • Assist staff with training in how to use technology for basic tasks like email, document creation, and accessing accounts.
  • Process tickets in the Help Desk system promptly, including documenting how an issue was solved. Keep staff informed of likely timelines if an issue can't be solved quickly. Escalate issues promptly when necessary.
  • Prepare written documentation and share with staff as appropriate.
  • Strive to maintain work areas in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Report abuse or damage to the IT Manager, principal or other personnel, as directed.
  • Help to prepare the "image" for computer updates and perform imaging as directed.
  • Perform other computer or network tasks and projects assigned by the IT Manager or designee.
