Job Goal:
The Data Specialist is primarily responsible for performing daily functions in order to maintain the integrity and accuracy of student data between the District's student information system (PowerSchool) and the State's student data system, while also providing guidance and support in entering data, so as to ensure accurate and timely submission to meet reporting deadlines. The Data Specialist provides professional development to teachers and other staff in the use of student assessment information and database construction/query strategies for improvement of instruction. The Data Specialist will develop, update and support data warehouses for all school needs as expressed by the Administrative Team. In addition, the Data Specialist will perform all functions related to State and Federal Reporting. Responsibilities (including, but not limited to): Manages all aspects of the District's student information system (SIS). Maintain, support and troubleshoot any problems that arise in the daily operation of the SIS (PowerSchool).
Acts as the i4see Coordinator to assist in alignment and accuracy of data and state reporting.
Provides training to teachers in the use of data to improve instruction.
Provides model instructional strategies for administrators, teachers, and secretaries in database mining.
Understands, interprets and ensures compliance with complex federal, state and local regulations.
Tests new systems and makes recommendations regarding improvements to data mining, storage and manipulation.
Maintains data standards, including adherence to HB1612 (RSA 186:66).
Ensures that storage, archiving, backup and recovery procedures are functioning correctly.
Works closely with IT tech support, administration and teachers.
Provides technical support for database applications.
Keeps all information concerning students, parents, staff and classroom incidents confidential.
Establishes and maintains a good working relationship with administration and staff.
Maintain and adjust student report cards and their respective templates as needed
Assist other departments with state reporting compliance by exporting data as needed from PowerSchool.
Collaborate with the school administrators to ensure timely and accurate reporting of all student enrollment.
Calendar setup and maintenance.
Attendance configuration.
Provide Help Desk support as needed.
Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Technology
