ABOUT THE POSITION
Common Ground Society (CGS) is looking for a warm, organized, community-minded person to help families find, join, and stay connected to our Rooted in Belonging program. The role blends community engagement, event facilitation, volunteer coordination, outreach, and data management. This is not primarily a desk job. You'll attend most meetups and host many of them, working closely with the Family Support Coordinator, and then make sure the data behind that work is accurate and complete. Spanish-speaking candidates are strongly preferred. Many of the families we serve speak Spanish, and fluency will be given strong consideration.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Family Engagement & Programs
  • Welcome families, help them register for meetups, workshops, and support groups, and connect them to CGS programs, community resources, and referral partners.
  • Attend most Rooted in Belonging meetups the grant supports, and host or facilitate many of them with the Family Support Coordinator and peer facilitators.
  • Coordinate with host sites and help shape new programs, locations, and partnerships based on caregiver feedback. Volunteer Coordination
  • Recruit, onboard, and schedule a reliable volunteer team, including required paperwork, background checks, and training.
  • Match volunteers to roles, confirm coverage before events, and orient them onsite.
  • Build lasting relationships with volunteers, thank them for their work, and track their hours for grant reporting.
  • Responsible for volunteer recognition and honoring a Volunteer of the Month. Outreach & Social Media
  • Build relationships with schools, libraries, Family Resource Centers, clinics, and other family-serving partners.
  • Reach new families, especially multilingual, rural, low-income, and foster/kinship families, and share English/Spanish materials through partners.
  • Post program updates and volunteer opportunities on Facebook and other CGS channels, and help turn online interest into in-person participation. Data & Reporting
  • Keep participant, volunteer, partner, and program records accurate, current, and confidential in CGS systems.
  • Track registrations, attendance, retention, referrals, surveys, and new vs. returning participants, including demographics.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly summaries, including First 5 Sonoma County reporting, and use data and feedback to recommend program improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with strong follow-through across multiple programs, calendars, and deadlines.
  • Warm, clear communicator who builds relationships easily with people from many backgrounds.
  • Comfortable facilitating small groups and community gatherings.
  • Comfortable with spreadsheets, databases, online registration systems, Google Workspace, and Social Media.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable transportation for travel throughout Sonoma County, and availability for occasional evenings and weekends. Preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish (strongly preferred).
  • Experience with families, caregivers, children, or people with disabilities.
  • Background in community outreach, nonprofits, social services, early childhood, or volunteer coordination.
  • Experience with program data, social media, or outreach materials.
  • Photography/videography experience for Social Media
  • Familiarity with Sonoma County resources, and personal or professional understanding of disability, special education, early intervention, or caregiver support.
