Upward Bound Math and Science (UBMS) is a federally funded TRIO program designed to prepare high school students from low-income backgrounds or potential first- generation college families for postsecondary education. The program focuses on strengthening students' academic skills and motivation in mathematics, science, engineering, and technology (STEM) through hands-on research projects, academic counseling, tutoring, summer residential experiences, and college exposure. The project will serve 60 students who attend Jim Hill High School, Lanier High School and Provine High School, all in the Jackson Public School District.
- Extract, audit, and compile cohort performance metrics required for the U.S. Department of Education Annual Performance Report (APR)
- Organize and schedule appointments
- Plan meetings and take detailed minutes
- Write and distribute email, correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms.
- Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports.
- Develop and maintain a filing system.
- Update and maintain office policies and procedures.
- Order office supplies and research new deals and suppliers.
- Maintain contact lists.
- Act as the point of contact for internal and external clients.
- Liaise with executive and senior administrative managers to handle requests and queries from senior managers.
- Submit reports timely and as required.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
- Experience tracking records, and generating compliance reports for annual performance reports (APR).
- Positive customer service skills
- Knowledge of office management systems and procedures.
- Working knowledge of office equipment, like printers and fax machines.
- Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular)
