Position summary Support the management, architecture, analysis, quality, and delivery of environmental geospatial data and products used to assess protected species, anthropogenic threats, oceanographic features, and cumulative environmental impacts. Key responsibilities
Integrate shapefiles, GPS, geophysical and analytical data, field measurements, maps, tables, and other spatial sources.
Conduct spatial, 3D, cumulative-impact, and predictive geospatial analyses; translate raw data into code and reproducible workflows.
Create publication-quality maps and geospatial products for technical reports, environmental reviews, and management decisions.
Develop QA/QC standards, resolve data/coding issues, support users, and facilitate data transfer among contractors and agencies.
Coordinate geospatial projects and incorporate enterprise GIS resources into program planning and management. Required qualifications
Bachelor's degree in GIS, geography, environmental science, marine science, computer science, or a related discipline.
At least 8 years of directly relevant professional experience meeting Scientific Services Level 2.
Advanced proficiency with ArcGIS Pro/ArcGIS Enterprise or comparable enterprise GIS tools, geodatabases, spatial analysis, and cartography.
Experience scripting geospatial workflows in Python and managing environmental or natural-resource datasets.
Demonstrated geospatial QA/QC, metadata, database-design, and stakeholder-support experience. Preferred qualifications
Protected-species, marine, oceanographic, or environmental-compliance GIS experience.
Experience with PostGIS, SQL, R, cloud GIS, web mapping, or 3D/spatiotemporal modeling.
Federal geospatial standards and Section 508-compliant product development. Employment conditions
Full-time unless otherwise specified; baseline schedule assumes a standard 40-hour workweek. Overtime is not anticipated and requires advance written Government authorization.
Offsite and hybrid work are subject to COR/Government approval.
Candidate must be available to work onsite at
NOAA/NMFS/OPR, 1315
East-West Highway, Silver Spring, MD, when requested.
Limited CONUS travel may be required. Candidate must maintain U.S. work authorization, pass required background/security processing, obtain a DOC badge as applicable, and complete mandatory NOAA training.
Final compensation will depend on directly relevant experience, education, specialized expertise, location, benefits, work schedule, and contract constraints.
Pay:
$108,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
