National Technical Institute is seeking a hands-on IT Systems and Operations Manager to oversee the daily operation, security, and continued improvement of our technology environment. This position supports our corporate office and multiple campus locations while leading the help desk function and serving as the senior escalation point for complex technical issues. The ideal candidate combines strong systems-administration experience with practical leadership skills. This person should be comfortable troubleshooting systems directly, managing competing priorities, supporting employees and campus leaders, supervising technical staff, and developing processes that help the organization operate securely and efficiently. What You Will Do Systems and Infrastructure Administer and maintain Microsoft 365 services, including Entra ID, Intune, Defender, Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, user accounts, groups, permissions, and device policies. Manage network infrastructure across multiple locations, including firewalls, switches, wireless access points, UniFi environments, internet service provider connections, and related equipment. Monitor system and network availability, performance, and security. Troubleshoot outages and coordinate timely resolution and communication. Administer phone and communication systems, including Nextiva lines, voicemail, call routing, and user configurations. Maintain and support campus security technology, including cameras, keyless-entry systems, access-control systems, and related equipment. Endpoint Access and Asset Management Oversee the lifecycle of laptops, desktops, peripherals, and other IT equipment. Coordinate employee onboarding and offboarding, including hardware preparation, account creation, access provisioning, orientation support, access removal, data-retention requirements, and equipment recovery. Manage technology procurement by developing specifications, obtaining quotes, placing orders, receiving equipment, and coordinating deployment. Maintain accurate records of technology assets, access, and assigned equipment. Security and Compliance Respond to security alerts and incidents and coordinate investigation, remediation, documentation, and follow-up. Implement, maintain, and improve security controls, including multifactor authentication, conditional access, endpoint protection, patch compliance, mailbox security, anti-impersonation controls, and least-privilege access. Conduct periodic reviews of devices, user accounts, administrator access, permissions, and the organization's overall security posture. Identify and address endpoint, access, and identity-related risks. Help Desk and IT Leadership Supervise help desk employees and oversee daily technical-support operations. Assign and prioritize work, monitor the ticket queue, establish service expectations, and provide coaching and performance feedback. Cross-train team members and build consistent processes that strengthen the department's overall capabilities. Develop and maintain IT procedures, standards, runbooks, escalation paths, and knowledge-base materials. Track recurring service needs and operational trends. Communicate system status, technology risks, resource needs, and recommended improvements to organizational leadership. Coordinate technology vendors and cross-functional IT projects. What We Are Looking For Five (5) or more years of progressive experience in systems administration, IT infrastructure, or IT operations. Hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365, including Entra ID, Intune, Defender, Exchange, Teams, and SharePoint. Experience supporting identity and access management, endpoints, networks, security systems, backup solutions, and telecommunications technology. Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, firewalls, switching, wireless infrastructure, internet service providers, and network troubleshooting. Previous experience leading employees, overseeing a help desk function, or managing significant cross-functional technology projects. Strong understanding of cybersecurity practices, including multifactor authentication, conditional access, endpoint protection, patching, email security, and incident response. Strong troubleshooting, organization, project-management, vendor-management, and decision-making skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and operational priorities at the same time. Excellent communication and customer-service skills. Ability to explain technical issues clearly to employees, campus leaders, vendors, and senior leadership. Preferred Qualifications Direct supervisory experience. Experience supporting multiple business or campus locations. Experience working with UniFi network environments. Associate or bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience may be considered. Microsoft certification related to Microsoft 365, Azure, security, or endpoint administration. CompTIA Security+, Network+, or a comparable industry certification.
