Network Engineer D3 Air and Space Operations Inc Tallahassee, FL Job Details Full-time | Contract $90,000 - $110,000 a year 17 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Vision insurance Qualifications Computer science Computer Science English Bachelor's degree Computer hardware Computer networking Organizational skills Computer Information Systems Full Job Description Senior Network Engineer Position Summary The Senior Network Engineer designs, implements, and supports complex enterprise network and voice systems, including wired, wireless, VoIP, and SIP infrastructure. The role contributes to network architecture, forecasts resource requirements, and provides engineering and operational support to Product Managers, vendors, and state agencies for statewide communications services. Key Responsibilities Network Planning and Architecture Plan, forecast, and implement complex network systems, including wireless, and identify their resource and capacity requirements. Participate in network architecture design and engineering, integrating topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links, and protocols into complete configurations. Produce and maintain network diagrams, design documentation, and technical standards. Engineering and Operations Evaluate new products and technologies for technical fit and interoperability. Resolve complex network problems, monitor protocol compatibility, tune systems for performance and reliability, and recommend improvements. Voice, SIP, and SBC Engineering Design and support hosted VoIP and SIP trunking services, including call routing, dial plans, and redundancy. Configure and maintain Session Border Controllers (SBCs) for SIP normalization, interoperability, topology hiding, and NAT traversal. Manage carrier SIP trunk interconnection, codec negotiation, and capacity planning. Secure voice infrastructure using TLS, SRTP, and controls against toll fraud and denial-of-service attacks. Troubleshoot signaling and call quality issues using packet captures and SIP traces. Implement QoS policies and monitor jitter, latency, and packet loss. Product and Service Support Provide engineering and operational support to Product Managers, vendors, and state agencies for the following services: Statewide network Local Area Network (LAN) Virtual Private Network (VPN) Domain Name System (DNS) services Hosted VoIP and SBC infrastructure SIP trunking and carrier interconnection Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Experience Three to five years of IT experience in infrastructure or network environments, performing network engineering (hardware and/or software), design, planning, and implementation. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in network engineering. Experience with network monitoring tools. Knowledge of VoIP, SIP, and SBC technologies. Familiarity with State of Florida government business practices. Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with executives, managers, vendors, and subject matter experts. Excellent technical writing skills, including the ability to prepare complex reports, plans, and briefings. Strong organizational skills. Understanding of how to maintain the confidentiality of records in accordance with Chapter 119, Florida Statutes, and Department policy. Additional Requirement Must successfully pass a State of Florida criminal background screening. Role Complexity This is an intermediate professional-level role. The engineer works on projects, systems, and issues of medium to high complexity involving network planning, configuration, and optimization. The engineer serves as a team member on one or more projects, occasionally as team lead, and may coach junior technical staff.
