IT Job Description Network LAN Engineer Liberty, NC (Onsite) FTE Only Job Description We are seeking an experienced Network LAN Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise LAN infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with switching, routing, network protocols, and network security, along with the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues in a production environment. Key Responsibilities Design, configure, implement, and maintain LAN/WAN network infrastructure. Configure and troubleshoot Cisco switches and routers. Manage VLANs, STP, EtherChannel, trunking, and inter-VLAN routing. Work with TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, ARP, and ICMP protocols. Troubleshoot network connectivity, performance, and availability issues. Implement and maintain Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking solutions. Support network upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure expansion. Monitor network performance and identify potential issues proactively. Work with firewalls, VPNs, NAC, and network security controls. Perform network configuration, incident resolution, and root cause analysis. Maintain network documentation, diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures. Collaborate with infrastructure, security, systems, and application teams. Participate in network maintenance, change management, and disaster recovery activities. Support enterprise network automation and configuration management where applicable. Must-Have Skills Strong experience with LAN/WAN networking. Hands-on experience with Cisco networking technologies. Strong knowledge of Cisco Catalyst switches. Experience with VLAN, STP, RSTP, MSTP, EtherChannel, and trunking. Strong understanding of TCP/IP and OSI models. Experience with routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP. Knowledge of DHCP, DNS, ARP, and IP addressing/subnetting. Strong network troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills. Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools. Knowledge of network security, firewalls, VPN, and NAC. Experience with network documentation and change management. Good to Have Cisco
CCNA/CCNP
certification. Experience with Cisco DNA Center / SD-Access. Knowledge of SD-WAN. Experience with Python or Ansible for network automation. Knowledge of cloud networking — AWS/Azure/GCP. Experience with wireless LAN (WLAN) technologies. Familiarity with ITIL and enterprise network operations. Required Skills DevOps Engineer
