Full Job Description Job Purpose :
The position is responsible for defining and establishing methods and procedures required to prepare a Central Office or other location for equipment removal and trun down. Additionally, this position has responsibility for working closely with any/all third-party vendors during the contracted removal services to ensure compliance with all established safety, method and procedures as required by Altafiber. The position is responsible quality inspections of COs and Network Equipment locations, identifying issues, documenting the issues in a database with pictures as well as working with personnel to coach and train on "best practices" and standardization of doing work related to these disconnects and removals. The position will interact with Engineering, Network Operations, Construction, Contractors, Field Operations, Real Estate, Supply Chain and other departments as necessary to help stream line the processes and ensure continuity to customers during the removal processes. Results of this position will have a significant impact on customer service, network service and employee efficiency.
Job Functions:
Work closely with planners to identify equipment categories and perform necessary functions to prepare the targeted - removal equipment. Ensure all records are updated, and the equipment is turned down and prepared for removal. Work closely with planners, real estate and CO to create all MOPs and guidelines for removal vendor. Identify and tag cables and equipment to be removed including at BDFB and fuse panels. Identify and tag all "live" equipment that will remain, and create process/markings to ensure this live equipment is protected from any type of interruption during the removal process. For the devices being removed, help determine the far end connection such as DSX etc. and determine if that device can be removed in order to eliminate/reduce any unintended customer impact. Oversee the removal vendor work to ensure MOP and standards are being followed. Act as the on-site liaison to the vendor for any questions/issues that arise. Post-Inspect the quality and reliability of work related to the preparation locations. These inspections relate too, but not limited to copper and fiber cable management, labeling, proper installation/repair/disconnection of network services, equipment bays, power bays and anything else related to the work around network equipment. and removal of the equipment in the COs and Network Equipment Supervisor to other CO auditors performing like functions.
Education :
Two years of College or Technical School resulting in an Associate's Degree or equivalent
Relevant Work Experience:
5 to 7 years in related field
Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Knowledge of the central office and network equipment environment Previous experience installing and maintaining fiber and copper services in the central office Understanding of proper copper/fiber management practices
Supervisory Responsibility :
This position may have supervisory responsibility for other related temporary employee positions performing this same function.
