(AMS) is a growing automation and equipment manufacturer headquartered in Jenison, Michigan. Since 1997, AMS has become a leading provider of automation, material handling systems, and software solutions for the pallet manufacturing, recycling, and timber processing industries. We design, build, integrate, install, and support custom industrial equipment and complete automated systems for customers throughout North America. As our company continues to grow, we are looking for a hands-on Network & Systems Administrator to serve as the primary day-to-day IT resource for our manufacturing and engineering environment. This is a broad technical role supporting approximately 60 employees and 200 endpoints , along with the servers, network infrastructure, cloud services, engineering systems, manufacturing technology, and business applications that support daily operations at AMS. We are looking for a well-rounded IT professional who enjoys variety, solving problems, and taking ownership of issues from initial investigation through resolution. You don't need to be an expert in every technology we use. We're looking for someone with strong IT fundamentals, practical experience, curiosity, and the ability to learn unfamiliar systems. What You'll DoSystems & Network Administration Administer Windows servers, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file services, and user permissions. Manage Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, user accounts, licensing, and authentication. Maintain physical and virtual server infrastructure. Manage and troubleshoot switches, firewalls, wireless networks, VLANs, VPNs, and general network connectivity. Monitor backups and assist with file, system, and virtual machine recovery when necessary. Maintain file servers, network shares, access permissions, and related infrastructure. Assist with system upgrades, infrastructure improvements, and technology projects. Help maintain the overall security, reliability, and availability of AMS's IT environment. End-User & Business Systems Support Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows workstations and laptops. Provide day-to-day technical support to employees throughout the organization. Support engineering, manufacturing, ERP, accounting, and other business applications. Manage employee onboarding and offboarding, including accounts, hardware, software access, and permissions. Troubleshoot printers, conference room equipment, phones, mobile devices, and other connected technology. Coordinate with software vendors, service providers, equipment manufacturers, and outside technical resources when needed. Work directly with employees to diagnose issues and provide practical solutions. Technology Management & Improvement Maintain technical documentation for systems, infrastructure, processes, and procedures. Identify opportunities to improve existing IT processes and systems. Use scripting or automation where appropriate to reduce repetitive administrative work. Assist with evaluating hardware and software needs, purchasing, and equipment lifecycle planning. Help identify and implement practical security and infrastructure improvements. Balance immediate support needs with ongoing IT projects and priorities. Working in a Manufacturing Environment IT at AMS sometimes goes beyond a traditional office environment. Our manufacturing and engineering equipment can include computers, network interfaces, controllers, vendor-managed systems, and other interconnected technology. From time to time, the Network & Systems Administrator may be asked to help determine why systems are not communicating or assist engineers, technicians, vendors, or machine builders with troubleshooting. You do not need to be an automation engineer or PLC programmer to be successful in this role. What is important is having a solid understanding of networking and technology fundamentals, being comfortable troubleshooting unfamiliar systems, and being willing to work collaboratively with the people who understand the equipment. We're looking for someone who is comfortable saying: "I haven't worked with this particular system before, but I understand the technology behind it and can help figure out where the problem is." What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is a well-rounded IT generalist with a solid systems and networking foundation who is ready to take ownership of the day-to-day IT needs of a growing company. We don't expect you to have experience with every product, platform, or application AMS uses. Specific technologies can be learned.

A successful candidate will:

Have strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Understand how networks, servers, endpoints, authentication, applications, and cloud services work together. Be comfortable independently researching unfamiliar systems and technologies. Work through problems methodically and follow issues through resolution. Know when to continue troubleshooting independently and when to involve a vendor or outside specialist. Be comfortable moving between systems administration and hands-on end-user support. Communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical employees. Work well with engineers, manufacturing personnel, leadership, vendors, and end users. Be able to prioritize immediate support needs while continuing to make progress on longer-term projects. Take ownership of responsibilities and follow through. Be curious, adaptable, dependable, and willing to continue learning. Qualifications We're looking for candidates with practical professional IT experience and a strong foundation in many of the following areas: Windows Server administration. Active Directory and Group Policy. Windows workstation administration and troubleshooting. TCP/IP networking fundamentals. DNS and DHCP. Managed switches, VLANs, routing, and wireless networking. Firewall and VPN administration or troubleshooting. Microsoft 365 administration. Server and endpoint hardware troubleshooting. File servers, network shares, and NTFS permissions. Virtualized server environments. Backup, restore, and disaster recovery concepts. General cybersecurity and access-control fundamentals. Hands-on work with physical IT infrastructure including servers, workstations, network equipment, cabling, and peripherals. A bachelor's degree is not required. We value relevant hands-on experience, technical ability, problem-solving skills, and a willingness to learn. Additional Experience We'd Love to See Experience in any of the following is helpful, but not required : PowerShell, Python, or other scripting and automation tools. VMware or Proxmox virtualization. Veeam or similar backup platforms. Microsoft Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Teams administration. Meraki, UniFi, or similar managed networking platforms. Linux fundamentals. Manufacturing or industrial environments. Industrial Ethernet or network-connected manufacturing equipment. Engineering or CAD software environments. ERP or other line-of-business application support. VoIP and telephony systems. Infrastructure monitoring and alerting. IT security improvement or hardening projects. Technical documentation and process development. Freshdesk or similar help desk/ticketing systems. What Success Looks Like Success in this role doesn't mean knowing the answer to every technical problem immediately. It means having the technical foundation and troubleshooting ability necessary to find the answer and get the problem resolved . You should be comfortable encountering an unfamiliar application, device, or system; identifying the technologies involved; determining where a problem may be occurring; researching potential solutions; and working with internal team members or outside resources when necessary. Over time, we expect this person to develop a strong understanding of the AMS technology environment and become a trusted resource for our employees and leadership team. Why AMS? Compensation:
