PURPOSE:

Under the general supervision of the Associate Director of Enterprise Application Services, the incumbent is responsible for the analysis, design, development/upgrading, documentation, Q/A, testing, and operational support/maintenance of university software applications and systems. This includes working independently on assigned tasks in close collaboration with other IT team members and stakeholders to address the needs of the university. Handles multiple work priorities and is accountable for own work results.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

include, but are not limited to, the following: Designs, develops, documents, and modifies software components, modules, and interfaces to systems, applications, and databases for existing and third-party software. Collaborates with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to understand desired functionality and performance. Function in a team to implement new features in existing systems, and build new applications and services by designing and developing customer-based solutions and products utilizing enterprise development tools.\nWork with IT Team and various departments capturing and documenting department requirements for large and small projects, in order to design appropriate solutions. Provides recommendations for process and application improvements utilizing best practices for organization staff and data management.\nPerforms application-level system administration, upgrades, and integrations. Consults with various technical teams and vendors to troubleshoot issues with existing applications and development.\nPerform unit and integration testing and assist with end user testing. Gathers feedback, troubleshoots, and debugs software issues, and provides timely resolution\nCollaborates with IT and cross-functional/technical teams in requirements gathering, planning, coordination and implementation of new campus systems and projects.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of:

\nGeneral knowledge of software development principles, concepts, frameworks, and tools.\nWorking knowledge of relevant software applications and programming languages.\nWorking knowledge of software development methodologies such as designing workflows, diagrams, and schematics.\nWorking knowledge of system development life cycle and structured systems development concepts.\nKnowledge of university and IT policies, processes, and procedures, and data privacy regulations.\nStays current on programming languages and emerging technologies.\nOrganizational and time management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize work.\nDemonstrated communication and interpersonal skills to gather information from users, convey technical issues effectively, and produce documentation.\nAnalytical skills to gather requirements and analyze, and troubleshoot issues.\nStrong project planning and organizational skills to plan, organize, document, and manage multiple projects.\nStrong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to present technical information to technically diverse audience in a clear and concise manner.\nStrong analytical skills to evaluate user and business needs/programs and design, develop, and implement solutions.\nProficiency in using applicable software and programming languages.\nComputer skills to appropriately troubleshoot and alter systems as required.\nAbilities to:\nDemonstrated knowledge and ability to write code and troubleshoot software application system issues.\nAbility to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive data and information.\nAbility to work independently, as part of a team, and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.\nAbility to provide lead work direction and training to others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience. Additional experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIALIZED SKILLS

Experience with Oracle/PeopleSoft tools, technology and architecture. Application Designer, PeopleCode, SQR, SQL and Data Mover.\nExperience with deploying/customizing 3rd party add-ons and managed packages\nExperience with custom integrations using APIs\nProject management skills and experience driving programs independently

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent, in addition to the required experience.
