Position:

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative individual with a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and research. The ideal candidate will contribute to our new Actuarial Science program, mentor students seeking professional actuarial careers, and develop a robust research agenda in actuarial mathematics, risk management, or a closely related field.

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching:

Deliver high-quality instruction at undergraduate level in applied statistics and data science courses, such as Statistical Machine Learning, Data Mining, Big Data Analytics, and Statistical Computing.

Student Mentorship:

Advise and mentor students on their academic and professional development, including guidance on passing professional actuarial exams and securing internships.

Research:

Establish and maintain a strong, externally funded research program that results in publications in top-tier relevant journals.

Service:

Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities, including curriculum development, program assessment, and committee work.

Required Qualifications:

Hold a Ph.D. degree in statistics and data science or a closely related field with at least 3 years of relevant experience. Have obtained the degree on-site and as a full-timer from an accredited university. A strong background in both statistical methodology and computational data analysis. Proficiency in statistical programming languages. Possess prior teaching experience in higher education. Proficient in English, as all instruction and academic advising are conducted in English. Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills. Utilize information technology effectively in both teaching and research. A strong research record or potential for developing a nationally recognized research program.

Preferred Qualifications:

A proven record of interdisciplinary research and publication. Experience with large-scale data analysis, machine learning frameworks, and/or cloud computing platforms. Postdoctoral or relevant industry experience in a data-centric role. Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV, Bachelor, Master and PhD Certificates, transcripts, and names of two references. ABOUT THE MATH AND SCIENCE DEPARTMENT

(MSD) The Mathematics and Sciences Department offers service courses covering the fundamental concepts of mathematics and natural sciences, which serve as prerequisites for various degree programs at Prince Sultan University. In addition, the department has recently launched two new bachelor's programs: Bachelor of Actuarial Science (AS) and Bachelor of Applied Statistics and Data Science (ASDS) . The department aims to transform students into competent and motivated professionals equipped with both theoretical and practical knowledge, fostering an environment that promotes research, critical thinking, and the determination to succeed in their chosen careers.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

The University is continuously expanding, and its campus is situated in well-equipped new premises in north-central Riyadh. 1. We offer a one-year renewable contract (renewable subject to Dean/Director and student evaluations) and a competitive salary package based on academic qualification, rank and teaching experience as stated above. 2. Other benefits include medical insurance coverage for the employee & dependents residing within the Kingdom (spouse & 4 children below 24 years of age). 3. Transport allowance. 4. Round trip tickets (maximum 4: employee, spouse and 2 children below 18 years of age) for annual leave with paid annual (summer) vacation of two (2) months, plus 2 local paid holidays of about 15 days each (as applicable). 5. Tuition fees of Saudi Riyals 30,000 maximum for children attending school within the Kingdom. Details will be specified in the contract. 6. Free, furnished accommodation plus essential utilities and maintenance will be provided subject to availability, OR the successful candidate will be provided a housing allowance based on academic rank. 7. End-of-service yearly gratuity, which starts on the 2nd year of continuous service (if the candidate completed a minimum of 2 years.)
