There are currently two hospitals on the Osawatomie campus in Miami county: Osawatomie State Hospital (OSH) and Adair Acute Care (AAC). Adair Acute Care are a 60-bed facility, certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. All employees are expected to work in a harmonious and cooperative fashion with other staff to provide efficient and effective customer service: to use free time as available to assist other staff in the completion of work assignments and perform other tasks as needed; to contribute to a positive work environment through a positive, helpful, courteous demeanor towards staff, customers and the general public; and to adhere to appropriate standards of conduct regarding the use of leave, reports to work on time and in the designated fashion. The purpose of the Program Consultant is to provide overall leadership and supervision for a treatment program consisting of psychiatric patients in need of ongoing treatment for acute, severe & persistent mental illness. This involves all aspects of treatment from admission assessments through discharge planning and follow-up. This incumbent will be responsible for overseeing systems that support individualized care and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. You will provide direct oversight of MHDDT's on the patient units, ensuring consistency in care delivery and addressing any discrepancies in performance with the Program Coordinator. The essential functions of this position require physical strength to frequently push, pull, twist, bend, squat, walk, stand for extended periods of time, lift and/or restrain residents with or without assistance and respond to aggressive resident behavior with specific, trained techniques. Must be able to observe and respond to residents in distress. Osawatomie State Hospital Adair Acute Care is funded in part by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and is subject to requirements bestowed by Federal and State levels of government conditions of participation.
Position Summary & Responsibilities Position Summary:
a) Work is performed under the supervision of the Program Coordinator who reviews and assesses work performance for adherence to hospital/nursing service policies and procedures (standard of care) as well as desired outcomes. b) Quality of Service Delivery and Active Treatment — Oversees systems to assure the delivery of individualized person-directed supports and services; foster teamwork to bring about organizational changes to assure the delivery and quality assurance of services provided as measured by the consumer. Takes primary lead to assure agency services are performed in compliance with agency policies as well as state and federal law and regulatory or licensing/certification requirements. Assumes lead organizational planning, implementation, and monitoring to assure practices meet or exceed

regulatory requirements. Confers with individuals and agency staff from other departments (Medical services, Nursing, Maintenance, business, Personnel, Staff Training, Dietary, etc.) to enhance active treatment and quality of life support services provided. Administratively oversees the delivery of services and works with the administrative structure to ensure quality and services are provided on a timely basis and are sufficient to meet program, care and sanitation needs. Develops and uses data systems to analyze quality of service delivery and customer satisfaction. Oversees systems to assure individual rights of consumers are protected. c) Supervision — Oversees the work of MHDDT's for the patient units, shares leadership, personnel supervision, and management responsibilities of ancillary professional staff with the directors of medical, psychology, social work, and nursing. Develops, delivers, and maintains through supervisory staff, systems which objectively monitor employee performance and promote constructive employee feedback. Delegates assignments to MHDDT and provide oversight to ensure that a standard level of care is being provided. Bring any discrepancies to the attention of the Program Coordinator/ Program Director. d) Staff Training — Assists with collaboration and consultation among individuals and staff from various departments such as programming, training, and personnel to assure the development and implementation of quality staff training activities. Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: Provide basic care to patients to enable them to meet their daily living needs, i.e.: assist with personal and oral hygiene, care of clothing, room care and special incontinent patients. Provide interventions according to training received for patient safety (knowledge of and the ability to recognize the s/sx of medical problems, i.e.: stroke, cardiac, respiratory, diabetic s/x as hypo/hyperglycemia, poor eating habits, eating disorders, seizure activity, choking orthostatic hypotension, injuries, withdrawals, substance use and other problems. It may be necessary to drive or walk patients to scheduled meals, appointments, etc. both on and off grounds, including escorting the patient for laboratory procedures, explaining the procedure, encouraging cooperation and reporting outcomes/refusals to the Registered Nurse. Oversees the work of MHDDT's for the patient units, shares leadership, personnel supervision, and management responsibilities of ancillary professional staff with the directors of medical, psychology, social work, and nursing. Delegates assignments to MHDDT and provide oversight to ensure that a standard level of care is being provided. Bring any discrepancies to the attention of the Program Coordinator/ Program Director. Handling crisis/emergency situations to ensure patient/staff safety including initiation and follow through with DR. HEART's, CODE II and other emergency preparedness procedures in accordance with skill level. Utilize on-duty time appropriately, exhibiting dependability and responsibility in fulfilling job duty obligations. Demonstrate organized work habits to maintain unit environmental safety aspects. Document information in the Medical Record (EHR) to meet existing standards. Provides leadership to the MHDDT to ensure that all assigned tasks are completed in order to meet the standard level of care for each patient served. Assists in accurate, concise shift reports with documentation of patient events and behaviors, providing hand off communication between shift and disciplines after each working shift by providing the oncoming shift with walking verbal report on rounds and a copy of physician/nurse orders due report. Demonstrates continued competence to provide quality patient care through attendance and participation in education/job-related and/or age-specific programs including, but not limited to Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (C.P.R.) CPI (Crisis Prevention and Intervention) and Behavioral Expectations.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications :
One year of experience in planning, implementing, and monitoring activities relevant to the agency's programs.
