Job Summary:
As a Senior Engineer your priority is architecting, designing, and managing open access fiber networks. Success will be achieved through network planning, defining network architecture, creating standards and deliverables for OSP engineers, and facilitating handoff packages to low level engineering teams to ensure the final design prints meet specifications. Once a network is constructed, responsibilities will include managing network capacities and creating solutions for business and multi-dwelling residential properties on a case-by-case basis. In addition, you will be responsible for broadband planning and client consulting, which includes high level network designs, bill of materials, estimated design and build costing, as well as assisting in public and private funding applications. As a key member of the engineering team, the Senior Engineer will oversee the technical direction for telecommunications solutions, ensure adherence to industry standards, and provide leadership in the integration of cutting-edge technologies. This role demands a strategic thinker with the ability to balance technical proficiency with leadership and cross-functional collaborations, providing mentorship to junior engineers while guiding the team in achieving operational excellence. What You Get to Do (Duties/Responsibilities):
  • Engineering solutions including but not limited to High Level Network Designs, bill of materials and estimated design and construction costs for internal and external clients.
  • Implement engineering architecture, design, and development strategies for Bonfire's open access fiber networks, ensuring compliance with standards, codes, regulations, and requirements.
  • Identify and implement new and innovative applications, processes, and technology into Bonfire networks including but not limited to commercial businesses and multi-dwelling residential properties.
  • Participate in vendor product reviews and evaluations to implement into Bonfire networks.
  • Provide technical support and training to other engineers, contractors, and customers on network design, installation, operation, and maintenance.
  • Work closely with the Operations team to monitor and manage network capacity and develop timely engineering solutions to augment fiber or electronics to meet network demands.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolution of network issues, faults, outages related to OSP assets.
  • Oversee QA/QC of designing, installation, testing, commissioning and operation of fiber optic cables, equipment, and systems.
What We Are Searching For (Required Skills/Abilities): Expert level understanding of Telecom/Fiber, Outside Plant (OSP), Inside Plant (ISP), and related construction methods (Aerial, UG, Boring, Plowing, Trenching, Micro-trenching). Expert level working knowledge of engineering FTTx, including GPON and XGSPON technology. Experience designing air-blown fiber solutions utilizing micro-duct and micro-fiber solutions. Experience and understanding of Rights of Way (ROW), permitting, and joint use agreements. Working knowledge of governing standards, specifications, and best practices such as, NESC, ITU-T
G.652/G.657, ANSI/TIA 598, IEE 802.3, FTTH
Council, Fiber Broadband Association. Experience utilizing codified design descriptions for material and labor units.
  • Experience managing relationships with and presenting to customers and/or vendors.
  • Experience with Comsof, ArcGIS, and AutoCAD in a telecommunication setting.
  • Willingness to learn new skills, software, and technologies.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Available to travel to different project sites as needed.
Education/Certifications/Experience:
10+ Years' Experience with OSP (ISP Preferred but not required) network design. Bachelor's degree preferred. Network Planning and high-level design. Telecommunication engineering in a GIS based system. What's In It for You?

Additional Details:
At a minimum, background checks, education verification, employment verification, and drug screens will be conducted upon hire. Your suitability for employment is contingent upon successfully passing these required pre-employment screenings.
Pay:
$80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
