Job Description
Lead complex electrical design projects end-to-end Mentor the next generation of electrical engineers & CAD drafters Minimal travel (0-10%) in a senior multi-disciplinary design role Senior Electrical Engineer - Building & Construction Design (15+ Years) This role may also be known as: Electrical Engineer V, Principal Electrical Engineer, Senior Electrical Design Engineer, Lead MEP Electrical Engineer Lead complex electrical design projects end-to-end while mentoring the next generation of engineering talent. Step into a senior role where your expertise directly shapes construction projects from design through completion. Mentor and develop the next generation of electrical engineers and CAD drafters within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team. Enjoy minimal travel demands (0-10%) so you can lead impactful work without sacrificing time at home. If you're a seasoned electrical engineer who thrives on ownership - from the first design element to the final punch list - this is where your experience finally gets the platform it deserves. Our client, a multi-disciplinary engineering consulting firm, is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to take the lead on electrical design across a range of construction projects, working directly with clients and project teams from concept through completion. This is not a role where your knowledge sits on the shelf. You'll be trusted to make judgment calls on code compliance, drafting standards, and design quality, while also passing that knowledge on - mentoring less experienced engineers and CAD drafters as they grow into their own careers. Your voice will carry weight in project meetings, and your fingerprints will be on every set of construction documents that leaves the studio. With integrated, multi-disciplinary studios that bring together MEP, civil, and structural expertise under one roof, you'll have the chance to collaborate broadly, sharpen your craft, and build a reputation as a go-to expert in your sector - all while keeping travel to a minimum (0-10%). Why This Opportunity Is Different Unlike many senior engineering roles that isolate you in a single discipline, this position sits inside an integrated, multi-disciplinary team - giving you regular exposure to civil and structural colleagues and a broader view of every project you touch. You'll have direct access to leadership and clients rather than working several layers removed from decision-making, and you'll be given real ownership over project timelines, quality standards, and client communication. Mentoring is built into the role, not an occasional favor - meaning your experience is valued and actively passed forward. And with travel capped at roughly 10%, you get the seniority and scope of a lead role without the lifestyle trade-offs that usually come with it. What You'll Be Doing Own the production of electrical design elements and construction documents for projects from concept through permitting Guide projects through post-design activities, including punch lists, all the way to construction completion Serve as a mentor to less experienced electrical engineers and CAD drafters, helping them grow their skills and confidence Manage project timelines and act as the primary point of communication between the design team and clients Advise on schedules, deadlines, site surveys, punch lists, and code compliance to keep projects on track Prepare complete and accurate engineering specifications within project scope and budget Partner with colleagues across disciplines to identify process improvements and efficiencies What We're Looking For 15+ years of experience in electrical engineering design A 4-year degree in Engineering Demonstrated understanding of the construction process and the ability to interpret construction drawings Expert knowledge of building codes, standards, and engineering drafting practices Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit EIT and/or PE credential preferred Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to lead client conversations A genuine interest in mentoring and developing junior talent Compensation & Work Model Compensation is competitive and will be discussed during the screening process. Location & Travel Travel is expected to be minimal, in the range of 0-10%. How to Apply To apply or learn more, contact: Yasmine.maazouzi@tappwfs.com OR Rodney.
