Responsibilities Safely operate specialized vehicles such as school buses, transit buses, and paratransit vans in accordance with all traffic laws and transportation safety regulations Assist passengers with boarding and alighting, including providing wheelchair assistance and ensuring passenger safety during transit Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including CPR and first aid when necessary Maintain clear communication with dispatchers and passengers using effective language skills, including bilingual communication when applicable Conduct vehicle inspections before each shift to ensure compliance with vehicle codes and safety standards Respond quickly to traffic changes or route adjustments to ensure timely arrivals and departures Manage passenger behavior through positive behavior management techniques while adhering to school policies and student discipline guidelines Experience Proven experience driving buses or similar commercial vehicles such as school buses or transit buses Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, transportation safety regulations, and emergency stop procedures Experience working with children or seniors, demonstrating patience and excellent customer service skills Familiarity with wheelchair assistance equipment and procedures for transporting passengers with mobility needs Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for loading or unloading equipment or luggage Multilingual skills are a plus to effectively communicate with diverse passenger groups Valid driver's license appropriate for the vehicle type (e.g., CDL for commercial driving), with a clean driving record in compliance with state and local laws Join us as a 7D driver if you're passionate about safe transportation, enjoy working with people of all ages, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
