Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Driver to join our transportation team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely operating a dump truck. Your primary goal is to ensure timely, secure, and comfortable transportation while maintaining the highest standards of safety and customer service. Responsibilities Safely operate a dump truck in accordance with traffic laws and transportation safety regulations. Follow all emergency response procedures for transportation, including emergency stop procedures and vehicle codes. Maintain clear communication with dispatchers and passengers using effective communication skills to respond quickly to traffic changes or unexpected situations. Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure proper functioning and report any mechanical issues promptly. Provide excellent customer service by addressing passenger needs, answering questions, and ensuring a positive experience for all riders. Comply with state and local commercial driving laws, transportation safety regulations, and school or transit policies at all times. Perform heavy lifting when necessary for securing equipment or assisting passengers with mobility challenges. Maintain accurate records of trips, incidents, and vehicle inspections as required by company policies. Qualifications Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for passenger transport (e.g., P endorsement for passenger vehicles). Proven experience in bus driving, school bus operation, or transit services preferred. Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations applicable in your jurisdiction. Strong understanding of emergency response procedures for transportation incidents. Excellent communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are an advantage for serving diverse communities. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and assist passengers with mobility needs when required. Familiarity with school policies related to student discipline and behavior management. Demonstrated defensive driving skills and quick response ability to traffic changes or hazards. CPR and First Aid certification preferred; willingness to obtain if not already certified. Knowledge of wheelchair assistance techniques and paratransit operations is beneficial.
